ചേർത്തലയിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞദിവസം ഒരു യുവതി മരിച്ചത് തുമ്പ കൊണ്ടുള്ള തോരൻ കഴിച്ചാണെന്നുള്ള വാർത്ത പലയിടത്തും കണ്ടിരുന്നു.

മരണകാരണവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് പോസ്റ്റ്മോർട്ടം റിപ്പോർട്ട് പുറത്തുവന്നത്
ഇന്നലെയാണ്.

റിപ്പോർട്ട് പ്രകാരം,
യുവതിയുടെ മരണകാരണത്തിന്
തുമ്പ കഴിച്ചതുമായി യാതൊരു ബന്ധവുമില്ല എന്ന് വസ്തുതാപരമായി തന്നെ തെളിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ദ്രോണ പുഷ്പി എന്ന് ആയുർവേദത്തിലും,
Leucas aspera
എന്ന് ശാസ്ത്രനാമത്തിലും അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന
നമ്മുടെയെല്ലാം സ്വന്തം തുമ്പ പൂച്ചെടി,
ഓണക്കാലത്തെ,
മലയാളികളുടെ എക്കാലത്തെയും നൊസ്റ്റാൾജിയ കൂടിയാണ്..

അതിലപ്പുറം,
ആയുർവേദത്തിലെ നല്ലൊരു ഔഷധം കൂടിയാണ് തുമ്പ.

തുമ്പച്ചെടിയിൽ,
ധാരാളം ആൽക്കലോയ്ഡുകളും ഗ്ലൂക്കോസൈഡ്സും
അടങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഇലകളിലെ,
glycosides സാന്നിധ്യം
തുമ്പയെ മികച്ചൊരു
അണു നാശന
ശേഷിയുള്ള ഔഷധമാക്കി മാറ്റുന്നു.

കീട വിഷത്തിലും തേൾ വിഷത്തിലും ഒക്കെ നല്ല രീതിയിൽ വിഷശമന സ്വഭാവം ഉള്ള ദ്രവ്യം കൂടിയാണ് തുമ്പ.

അങ്ങനെ പലതരം ഔഷധ മൂല്യം ഉള്ളതാണെങ്കിലും,
ഉള്ളിലേക്ക് കഴിക്കുമ്പോൾ
അതിന്റെ തനിനീര് അഥവാ സ്വരസം കൃത്യമായ അളവിന് അനുസരിച്ച് മാത്രമേ നിർദ്ദേശിക്കാറുള്ളൂ.

കാരണം വളരെ ഔഷധ വീര്യം ഉള്ള ഒരു ചെടി കൂടിയാണ് തുമ്പ.

പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നത്,
ഔഷധമൂല്യം ഉള്ളതാണ് എങ്കിൽ പോലും,
തുമ്പ മാത്രമല്ല ഒരു ചെടിയും തോന്നിയ പോലെ തോരൻ വെച്ചോ ജ്യൂസ് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയോ,
ഒന്നും ഉപയോഗിക്കരുത് എന്ന് തന്നെയാണ്.

ആയുർവേദമല്ലേ യാതൊരു കുഴപ്പവും ഉണ്ടാവില്ല എന്ന് കരുതി
തൊടിയിലും പറമ്പിലും നിൽക്കുന്ന ഔഷധവും അല്ലാത്തതുമായ ചെടികളെ
പല രീതിയിൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന പ്രവണത ഇപ്പോൾ വ്യാപകമാണ്.

കാണുന്ന ചെടികളെല്ലാം ചേർത്ത് എണ്ണകാച്ചി തലയിൽ തേക്കുന്നത്
വേറെ..

ആയുർവേദ മരുന്നിനു പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് action ഒന്നുമില്ല,
എന്ന രീതിയിൽ ആയുർവേദത്തെ വിമർശിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി കുറച്ചുകാലം മുമ്പ് പറഞ്ഞവരെല്ലാം ഇതിൽ പ്രതിയാണ്.

എന്നാൽ സത്യം അങ്ങനെയല്ല.

ആയുർവേദത്തിലെ ഔഷധസസ്യങ്ങളിൽ എല്ലാം തന്നെ സങ്കീർണമായ തന്മാത്ര ഘടകങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്.

അവയെ എങ്ങനെ പാർശ്വഫലങ്ങൾ ഇല്ലാതെ
ഔഷധമാക്കി ഉപയോഗിക്കാം എന്നുള്ളതിന്റെ അറിവാണ് ആയുർവേദം.

നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളുടെ നിരീക്ഷണ പരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട്,
ഔഷധ നിർമ്മാണത്തിലും പ്രയോഗത്തിലും ചികിത്സയിലും ഒക്കെ ഉരുത്തിരിഞ്ഞ അറിവാണത്.

അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെയാണ്
ഓരോ ഔഷധങ്ങൾക്കും ഔഷധ മാത്ര അഥവാ ഡോസ് നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്

അമിതമായാൽ പച്ചവെള്ളം പോലും
വിഷം ആകുന്നത്,
ഇങ്ങനെയാണ്.

ആരെങ്കിലും പറയുന്നത് കേട്ടോ,
യൂട്യൂബിലെ വീഡിയോകൾ കണ്ടോ,
സ്വയം പരീക്ഷണം എന്ന നിലയിലോ ഒന്നും ആയുർവേദ ഔഷധങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കരുത് എന്ന് പറയാനുള്ള കാരണം
ഇനി വേറെ പറയേണ്ടതില്ലല്ലോ.

എന്തായാലും തുമ്പപ്പൂവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട വാർത്ത വന്ന ഉടനെ,
കലക്ക വെള്ളത്തിൽ മീൻ പിടിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി ചിലർ രംഗത്ത് ഇറങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

അവസരം മുതലാക്കി ആയുർവേദ മരുന്നുകളെല്ലാം തന്നെ വിഷമാണ്,
അത് കഴിക്കുമ്പോൾ കരളും കിഡ്നിയും പോകും എന്ന പതിവ് പല്ലവി കൂടുതൽ മികവോടെ ഇറക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

മദ്യപാനം കൊണ്ടുള്ള കരൾ രോഗങ്ങളെക്കാൾ കൂടുതൽ ആയുർവേദ ഔഷധങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ടുള്ളതാണത്രെ...!!!

ആയുർവേദത്തിൽ പറയുന്ന ഔഷധ യോഗങ്ങളും സസ്യങ്ങളും എല്ലാം തന്നെ രോഗം മാറുന്നതിനു വേണ്ടി
നിശ്ചിതകാലം നിശ്ചിത അളവിൽ വൈദ്യ നിർദേശപ്രകാരം മാത്രം ഉപയോഗിക്കാനുള്ളതാണ്.

അങ്ങനെ ആധികാരികമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുമ്പോൾ യാതൊരു കുഴപ്പവും ഉണ്ടാകില്ല.

അതിന് ആയുർവേദം ആധികാരികമായി പ്രാക്ടീസ് ചെയ്യുന്ന ആയുർവേദ ഡോക്ടർമാരെ തന്നെ
കാണുകയും വേണം.

ഏതെങ്കിലും മരുന്ന് ആരെങ്കിലും പറയുന്നത് കേട്ട് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത് അല്ല ആയുർവേദം
എന്ന ധാരണ ഉറക്കാൻ എങ്കിലും,
ഇത്തരം സംഭവങ്ങൾ,
ഇടയാക്കും എന്ന് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കാം.
