The Al Noor story started just 28 years ago in 1985, with a small polyclinic and less than five employees. Since then its founder, Dr Kassem Alom, has guided it to success after success. In many ways it has grown with the Emirate of its birth, and has constantly tailored its services to its communities by reaching further, and providing the highest quality healthcare, to as many people as possible
.... When the first Al Noor Hospital opened in 1986, it was Abu Dhabi’s first and only private hospital. It was born with a vision to do things right: from the very beginning, there was a belief in quality before profit – that the former would always drive the latter. There was also a humility and hunger to improve, with Continuing Medical Education (CME) meetings held on a weekly basis. This served as a critical step to keep the physicians medically up-to-date, as well as engaged in healthy scientific debates. It also set a precedent that drives the organization to this day. During the late 1980’s, management and staff worked hard to lay the foundations of success. Hiring quality physicians and investing in state-of-the-art equipment, Al Noor cemented its ability to provide international standards of medical/clinical diagnostics and treatment and quality customer service that simply did not previously exist in the Emirate. Al Noor's reputation grew quickly and from 1990 the management team began looking to international expertise to enhance the quality of care. Forming global relationships from John Hopkins University in the USA to Berlin University in Europe, they optimized visiting doctor programs and enhanced a culture of learning that saw many physicians sent abroad for CME. Al Noor gained a reputation as a true pioneer, becoming the first private hospital in Abu Dhabi to perform in vitro fertilization (IVF), the first to introduce electronic medical records and the first to complete open heart surgery. In education, it was the first private hospital to upgrade the medical training in the local medical community – organizing the first sports conference in the Gulf in association with the University of Kentucky. Furthermore, Al Noor set a precedent for expanding services into new communities, pioneering community health initiatives, and working in schools and universities to better educate people about issues related to their health and wellbeing. Today, Al Noor employs over 3,300 healthcare professionals and offers a full continuum of healthcare services across three hospitals, seven outpatient medical centers and fourteen pharmacies. Together, the entities manage almost 4,500 patient visits per day on average. According to the 2011 report from the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD), Al Noor is the largest private healthcare organization in Abu Dhabi with 39% of private inpatient admissions and 35% of private outpatient visits. The latest HAAD statistics also show that, among private providers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Al Noor is the leader when it comes to inpatient satisfaction and in the top 5 for outpatient satisfaction.
