Al Hakeem Medical Centre is conveniently situated in AL - WADI Area in Salalah. Presently it caters for both diagnostic and curative aspects on OUTPATIENT basis. On the diagnostic front Centre has state of art RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT to provide efficient, high quality diagnostic imaging with accurate and rapid interpretation. The hospital houses state-of-the-art equipments and makes use of the best technology in the medical field and is well supported by a highly enthusiastic, qualified and well-experienced medical team. On the therapeutic side there are well equipped clinics managed by highly qualified in house specialists / consultants. Apart from this clinics are held from time to time by visiting consultants of different specialties from Sultan Qaboos Hospital, Muscat and from overseas. RADIOLGY DEPARTMENT
The radiology department is the sheet anchor of the Centre and is equipped with quality machines for quick and accurate diagnosis. It is the first MRI centre in the region. The department functions under the leadership of an in house senior consultant who possesses vast experience in handling these machines for accurate diagnosis. Qualified and experienced technologists operate the equipment. Presence of female technologist infuses confidence in female patients who need these investigations. Radiology department has following modalities at present.

“MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING”. The MRI machine is from “HITACHI APERTO ARIES”. It is an open machine with permanent magnet. The machine uses advanced DICOM system (Third generation DICOM). This machine has noise reduction system and being open type does not give claustrophobic effect to the patient and is well tolerated by all. Our radiological modalities are integrated with PACS and HIS. This makes image retrieval easy from all focal points. MAMMOGRAPHY
This machine uses X - ray tubes from Toshiba. This machine has variable MAs from 1 to 700 MAs and is run by high frequency generator for better results. This is an excellent imaging modality for screening of breast cancer, which can be picked up early. In fact, even before the patient develops complaints or symptoms. It is ideal for patients who are 40 years and above, as in this age group incidence of breast cancer is increased. DIGITAL X-RAY
It is a high frequency X - ray Machine attached to CR system for digital output.
4 –D COLOURED DOPPLER & ULTRASOUND MACHINE
1. Hitachi - “EUB 5500”. Being the 4 – D machine it offers real time assessment apart from 3- D images.
2. GE Vivid 7 Pro - Virtual Apex scanning improves the visualization of structures in the near field for coronary imaging. Coded Harmonic Imaging and ultra wide bandwidth technology improves, color flow and Doppler imaging. High resolution, ultrasound systems with multiple probes and color flow mapping (Doppler) capabilities, help undertake ultrasound studies for:
Routine Abdomino-Pelvic Sonography
Small parts scanning for thyroid, te**is, breasts, etc
Obstetric and Gynecological scans
Color Doppler flow studies and
Echocardiography
Trans-vaginal Sonography for pelvic scanning and ovulation studies
Trans-rectal Sonography for prostate etc. Bone densitometer:
Bone densitometry Scan (DXA) also called dual energy X-Ray absoeptiometry. Used to measure bone loss, often performed on lower spine and hips. It is used to diagnose osteoporosis. And also helps to assess individual risks for developing fractures. CR SYSTEM
All these radiological modalities are connected to Kodak’s Direct view CR system for digitalization of the images. Thus imparts clarity and ability to manipulate the images on the work station. This capability improves the diagnosis. Radiology department is functioning under the guidance of an in house Senior Consultant who possesses vast experience in handling these machines for accurate diagnosis. THE MEDICAL LABORATORY
The laboratory is managed by three experienced Laboratory technicians and is equipped with following advanced modern equipment and facilities that can provide accurate results.
1. HORIBA ABX HAEMATOLYZER
This is HORIBA ABX HAEMATOLYZER is capable of performing 3 part differential with 18 parameters of a given sample.
2. ROCHE IMMUNO ANYLYSER COBAS e 411
Fully automated, random access system for immunoassay analysis. It is available as both, a disk system and a rack system. Up to 88 samples/hr (theoretical max) can be tested for the samples of Serum, Plasma and Urine. In addition to all the above mentioned tests, all the clinical side tests related to blood urine & stool are also available. There will be Microbiological section attached to the laboratory. The laboratory will be geared for many highly sophisticated investigations which are at present not available in Salalah and samples are sent to Muscat. CLINICAL PHYSIOLOGY:
