Ask yourself:

🔎 Have I fully used the resources at my current school?
🔎 Am I running away from a temporary challenge?
🔎 Have I spoken to an academic advisor?
🔎 Will my credits transfer?
🔎 How will this impact graduation timeline and financial aid?
🔎 What specifically am I looking for in a new school?

Transferring strategically is very different from transferring emotionally.

A well-planned transfer can elevate your academic and professional trajectory.
A rushed one can delay it.

How to Write a Strong Letter of Continued Interest (LOCI)

When should you send it?
After being waitlisted or deferred — and only if the university allows it.

Why does it matter?
A strong LOCI reinforces your application by showing genuine interest, continued academic growth, and a clear fit with the institution. It can be the factor that turns a waitlist into an offer.

What to include:
• A clear statement that the school remains your top choice
• Relevant updates (new grades, awards, leadership, research, projects)
• Specific reasons the university aligns with your academic and personal goals
• A confident, respectful closing

What to avoid:
• Repeating your original application
• Emotional appeals or pressure
• Excuses or long explanations

Pro tip:
Keep it to one page, be specific, and sound authentic — not scripted.

Cómo escribir una Carta de Interés Continuo (LOCI) efectiva

¿Cuándo enviarla?
Después de quedar en lista de espera o diferido — y solo si la universidad lo permite.

¿Por qué es importante?
Una buena LOCI demuestra interés genuino, progreso académico continuo y una conexión clara con la universidad. Puede marcar la diferencia entre esperar… y ser admitido.

Qué incluir:
• Que la universidad sigue siendo tu primera opción
• Actualizaciones relevantes (notas, logros, liderazgo, investigaciones)

Most Early Application results are in… many students are seeing the word “Deferred.” If this happened to you, take a deep breath—a deferral is not a rejection.

Being deferred means the university sees potential in your application but wants to review it again in the Regular Decision pool. With highly selective schools and record-breaking application numbers, deferrals have become increasingly common.

What should you do if you’re deferred?
✅ Stay calm and perspective-focused
A deferral means you’re still in the game.
✅ Confirm continued interest
Many universities appreciate a thoughtful Letter of Continued Interest (LOCI) that briefly reaffirms your enthusiasm and shares meaningful updates.
✅ Strengthen what you can control
Keep grades strong, stay engaged, and take initiative—senior year still matters.
✅ Follow each university’s instructions carefully
Not all schools want additional materials.
✅ Keep moving forward
Continue working on your Regular Decision applications

A deferral is not a judgment of your worth or future. College admissions is a complex process, and the right opportunity often reveals itself later in the journey.
