We have one bright, ~500 sq ft studio apartment available and are looking for someone who would love to call this place home long-term (1 year minimum, longer welcome).

Located ~45 minutes south of Washington, DC, this quiet, land-based setting is part of Wild Ginger Herbal Center—peaceful most of the year, with occasional weekend activity during our seasonal herbal programs. (Please note: classes are not included in the rental agreement.)

🌿 The Space Includes:

• Private entrance
• Open living/sleeping area
• Full kitchen (stove + fridge)
• Washer + dryer
• Bathroom with shower
• Parking for 1 vehicle

This is a very simple, rustic space—best suited for someone who appreciates a quiet, country lifestyle.

🔥 Important Details:

• Wood stove heat (tenant provides wood) (we use furnace as sparingly as possible to keep costa manageable).
• Tenant responsible for 1/3 utilities (electric, FIOS, trash)
• Well water included
• Unfurnished
• $850/month + $850 security deposit

For centuries, Western thought—shaped by René Descartes—has framed nature as inert and mindless, a view still embedded in modern materialist science and reflected in today’s ecological crises. Yet contemporary research is only beginning to affirm what land-based Indigenous peoples have long understood: plants express forms of intelligence through cooperative, adaptive behaviors. Having thrived far longer than humans and making up over 80% of Earth’s biomass, plants carry an ancient, embodied wisdom.

Alyssa Dennis is a dedicated earth activist, spiritual ecologist, educator, interdisciplinary artist, clinical herbalist and founder of Eclipta Herbal. She also stewards a vibrant herbal sanctuary in Baltimore City — a living classroom home to over 125 species of medicinal plants. This space is a heart-centered venture of ecological conservation—of both the human body and the land body—which serves as gathering ground for plant medicine education, community building, earth skills workshops, and collaboration.
