UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCES between EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS (ESA) ๐๐ and SERVICE DOGS ๐ฆฎ๐โ๐ฆบ
๐๐ An EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL (ESA) can be any pet that supports you / calms you down regarding your mental health disability (e.g. anxiety, depression, PTSD, autism, ADHD, ...) by its mere presence.
ESA are not specially trained.
They are often dogs or cats, but not limited to that.
โ๏ธ When it comes to flying with your ESA in the cabin of an airplane: some (but not all) airlines accept ESA, usually dogs, sometimes cats, other animals usually not.
To fly with your dog or cat as an ESA you need a prescription by a mental health professional plus various documents from a veterinarian.
Send me a message for more detailed information.
๐ฆฎ๐โ๐ฆบ A (PSYCHIATRIC) SERVICE DOG is a specially trained dog to perform particular tasks to help you with your physical or mental disability (e.g. anxiety, depression, PTSD, autism, ADHD, ...).
A Service Dog can be trained by yourself or a professional dog trainer.
โ๏ธ Service Dogs are usually always accepted in the cabin of airplanes and other public spaces like restaurants, hotels, etc.
What you need to fly with your dog as a Service Dog? Send me a message for more detailed information.
