Volunteer with Amazon Promise!

Join our October 31st - November 7th medical outreach team in Peru! This is the only team we have placements available for this year.

Amazon Promise will provide primary health care, dental care, laboratory analysis, and health education in jungle communities of the lower Ucayali River.

This team is open to all medical professionals and student applicants (medical/dental/nursing/nurse practitioner/physician associate). We can accept one non-medical volunteer on this team.

One-week trip cost is $1600 and includes a combination of jungle camping and city hotel accommodations, transportation, all medical and clinic supplies. Most meals included.

Access to clean water reduces disease.
Children are healthier and can attend school more often when they have access to clean water.
Clean water empowers women by eliminating hours spent collecting water.

With are partners from Engineers Without Borders, Amazon Promise has installed potable rainwater systems in 21 communities of the Peruvian Amazon.

House calls to attend to those who can't make it to where we're holding clinic in remote Amazonian villages make a big difference.
It might be an adjustable cane, reading, sun, and distance glasses, medications, wound evaluation, an ultrasound, or food. It can also be something much more serious requiring a medical evacuation to the city. We had two patients taken to Iquitos and are monitoring them at the hospital.

The second week of clinics!
Today we're in the neighborhood of Nuevo Paraiso, on the outskirts of the port town of Nauta, lower Maranon River.
We'll be back in the jungle tomorrow for the next four days.

For the people of Bello Horizonte, no more trekking down to the muddy slippery shore to collect dirty water for drinking.
The new potable rainwater catchment system is already changing lives!
So proud, so awesome!

Everything is progressing just as planned!
Once the finishing touches were done on the new community center in Bello Horizonte, our partners from Kansas City Engineers Without Borders and the Kansas State EWB student chapter arrived to begin construction of a potable rainwater catchment system connected to this beautiful new building. The gutter system is now complete, plumbing fixtures are being assembled and tanks are being installed.
All is on track.

Where did the week go?
Today is the final day of an incredibly full week working with Global First Responder building a large community center and providing medical care in five communities!

Welcome once again to our partners, Global First Responder!
The Amazon Promise team and GFR left for the jungle today to provide medical care in communities of the remote Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
They'll also build a community center in the village of Bello Horizonte located on the Maranon River. Once this is finished, our partners from the Kansas City professional chapter of Engineers Without Borders will arrive to install a potable rainwater catchment system that will be connected to this new building.
It's an exciting collaboration that showcases the power of partnership and community spirit, and we couldn't be more proud to play a role in bringing these two incredible organizations together with the people of Bello Horizonte for such a noble cause.
