From the pristine rainforest in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea, Sirigine Coffee Producers (SCP) is proud to bring you Bomai Coffee. This exquisite Single Origin Organic Arabica is grown in fertile, acidic and volcanic soils at high altitude of 1,500-2,300m that ensure cool growing conditions and our tropical location provides the perfect mix of rainfall (2200mm p.a.) Bomai region is a magical p
lace centred by the sacred Elimbari Limestone Range. The Bomai Plateau in Simbu Province has a long history in coffee-growing, with the industry supporting a community of 50,000 people living in this very remote and rugged landscape. Our farmers tend their coffee gardens – with around 200 trees ranging in age from 3 to 30 years, and a mixture of varieties including Blue Mountain, Catimor, Caturra, Mundo Novo and Arusha. Using only traditional, organic agricultural processes, they plant coffee trees under shade and weed by hand. From September to December, the landscape is transformed as the coffee flowers bloom and the cherries turn a vivid red. Harvesting begins in February and continues through to September. The cherries are then pulped, fermented, washed and sun-dried. We are the exclusive buyers of parchment from this region and continue the drying process at our own mill in Goroka (until the moisture level drops to 10-12%) before hulling and sorting the beans for export and/or roasting. We have more than 10 years’ experience in domestic and international sales and are Papua New Guinea Coffee Industry Cooperation (CIC) Licensed coffee producers, roasters and exporters. Our current (2021) production will be in the region of 800 tons (in 60kg bags), growing to 1000 tons p.a. Our passion for our unique coffee means that we guarantee our coffee is never mixed or blended with coffee from another locality. Thus ensuring its single origin pedigree and also delivering a coffee that has a truly unique flavour and aroma profile, highly sought-after by coffee devotees world-wide. Cupping at 85%, PNG Single Origin Bomai Coffee has distinct flavours of dark chocolate, red apple and stone fruit with a rich aroma and soft, musky finish. Our founder and the proprietor of Sirigine Coffee Producers, Paul Sirigine, started out as a humble coffee farmer in the 1990s and has built his expertise and the ethos of the company on understanding coffee from the bean to the cup. SCP farms, sources, mills, roasts and exports specialty Arabica so we understand the entire value chain and are passionate about producing not only the highest quality, single origin coffee for the most discerning customers, but also ensuring that our farmers receive fair prices for their premium coffee. In this way, we continue to grow the tradition of coffee underpinning the livelihoods of our community, where income from coffee pays for school fees, housing, healthcare and cultural obligations. At the same time, maintaining this untouched paradise of Bomai is paramount and we work with our farmers to ensure that the unique habitat and biodiversity is protected for future generations. As growers, buyers, producers, roasters and exporters of premium Arabica coffee, it is our mission to ensure that PNG Bomai Coffee improves the lives, socially and culturally, of every single member of our community. We also guarantee to deliver the very best, unique single origin organic coffee that PNG has to offer, from our pristine plateau high in the rainforest-covered mountains.
