New Computer Lab Launched at Mt Diamond Adventist Secondary School! 💻

Digicel PNG Foundation, with the support of Digicel PNG Ltd, proudly launched a brand-new Computer Lab at Mt Diamond Adventist Secondary School on October 28, 2025! 🏫✨

As part of the BeLit Education Program, the lab includes 30 brand-new laptops, a standby generator, and a flat-screen TV for ICT lesson. Refurbishment work was also done to the lab.

Mt Diamond is the second school this year to receive a lab under the “50 for 50” initiative, following Tokarara Secondary School.
Deputy Principal Mr Amos reminded students to be careful with the new facility and use it responsibly.

Digicel PNG Foundation Board Director, Lorna Mcpherson reminded students that, “You can be knowledgeable and smart, but without discipline, you cannot achieve your future dreams.”

This initiative is a major step toward bridging the digital divide and empowering students with the skills needed for a brighter future. 🌐📚

✨Solar-Powered Oxygen Concentrator Brings Life-Saving Care to Sangapi Health Centre in Madang Province ✨

Digicel PNG Foundation has provided K50,000 to support the installation of a solar-powered oxygen concentrator at Sangapi Health Centre in Middle Ramu, Madang Province. Launched this month, the project is expected to benefit approximately 3,315 people through this life-saving intervention.

Operated by the Church of the Nazarene under the Nazarene General Hospital network, Sangapi Health Centre serves a remote population that faces ongoing challenges in accessing reliable power and delivering critical respiratory care.

Located near the Sangapi airstrip, the facility provides essential primary healthcare services including outpatient consultations, emergency care, inpatient admissions, immunizations, family planning, and maternal deliveries.

Through the Foundation’s Community Grants Program, the project has established a sustainable oxygen supply for patients, especially children, suffering from severe pneumonia, hypoxia, and asthma. By ensuring consistent access to oxygen therapy, the initiative is expected to improve patient outcomes, reduce infant mortality, and lessen the need for emergency referrals to distant hospitals.

Eggshell Relationship—Love Should Not Feel Like A Minefield

Do you find yourself constantly on alert or afraid to say the wrong thing? An eggshell relationship is one where you constantly feel like you have to tiptoe around your partner to avoid conflict or emotional outbursts.

In this kind of relationship, you’re always on edge, afraid that the smallest comment, question, or action might trigger anger, criticism, or emotional withdrawal.

This dynamic is often emotionally exhausting and is a sign of emotional manipulation or abuse. Healthy relationships are built on mutual respect, trust, and the freedom to express yourself without fear.

If you or someone you know is in an eggshell relationship, it may help to talk to a trusted friend, or counsellor for support.

💧Clean water flows in Goru village💧

Witu Island Humanitarian Association PNG Inc. (WIHAPNG) has delivered safe clean water to Goru Village through the Naru Kemi (Good Water) project, in Vitu Island! With K73,000 in funding from Digicel PNG Foundation, the team kicked off work on August 20 and completed the project within a period of one month.

According to WIHAPNG Chairman, Samson Kelu, 14 water taps have been installed, water pipes connected, and foundations for the tank stand and genset house completed. The project is a joint effort between WIHAPNG, Sata Engineering, and the Goru community, who are working side by side with pride and purpose.

After the launching on October 15, communities and families were overjoyed. Mrs Manuela Aito shared, “we no longer need to paddle to another village for clean water because it is now right at our doorstep.” The project has brought unity, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose to the village.

Looking ahead, Goru Primary, Junior High, and the Village Development Committee will manage the system, ensuring it runs smoothly. WIHAPNG also plans to expand clean water access and improve sanitation across Vitu and Bali Islands.

Digicel PNG Foundation is committed to providing vital water services to communities in need, upholding our commitment to the legacy of leaving no one behind.

✨Brightening Futures with Solar Power✨

The Hogave Conservation Center, a proud recipient of Digicel PNG Foundation Community Grants, has successfully completed a Solar Power Project at Bowaro Primary School in Lufa District of Eastern Highlands Province. With K50,000 in support from the Foundation, the school will now be powered by a brand new 5kW Solar system.

Bowaro Primary School has long struggled with the challenges of operating without electricity, causing students to have limited study hours, teachers face difficulties preparing lessons, and the school lacks access to essential digital learning tools.

Launched on October 13, this life-changing project will bring reliable electricity to the heart of the Hogave Conservation area that will support digital learning, improve study conditions, and reduce reliance on costly fuel.

"The Solar project is an example of what can be achieved when Conservation and development go hand in hand, thank you Digicel Foundation for your support," says Hogave founder, Mr David Kima.

Bridging the Digital Divide: A Bold Step for PNG’s Future

In a powerful show of public-private partnership, Minister for Education Hon. Lucas Dekena, MP, hailed the launch of internet connectivity and the donation of 50 computer labs to secondary schools across Papua New Guinea as a “magnificent gift” ahead of the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary.

Speaking at the launch, the Minister praised Digicel Foundation and Telstra for their commitment to bridging the digital divide and investing in the nation’s youth. “This is more than a donation; it’s a window to a world of knowledge, research, and opportunity,” he said.

The Minister for Education emphasized that digital access is no longer a luxury but a necessity in today’s world. The initiative, he noted, aligns with the government’s vision to ensure no child is left behind and to equip students with critical skills for the future.

He also reaffirmed the Marape-Rosso government’s commitment to uplifting the teaching profession and building a future-ready education system through strong collaboration between government, private sector, and communities.

Depression: A Conversation We Need to Keep Having

Let’s be honest, life moves fast. Deadlines pile up, responsibilities grow, and somewhere in the chaos, our emotional well-being often gets pushed to the back burner. We tell ourselves, “It’s just stress,” or “I’ll feel better tomorrow.” But what if tomorrow doesn’t feel better?

Depression isn’t just a bad mood or a rough patch. It’s a real, often invisible condition that can affect anyone regardless of how strong, successful, or put-together they may seem on the outside.
If any of this feels familiar, please know: you’re not alone. And you don’t have to navigate it alone either.

Talking to a doctor or a mental health professional can be a turning point. It’s not a sign of weakness but a step toward healing.
Mental health deserves the same attention and care as physical health. Let’s keep the conversation going. Let’s check in on each other. Let’s break the stigma.

💧Digicel PNG Foundation Delivered Clean Water to Labu Village

In Morobe Province, over 2,000 residents of Labu village had long faced the daily challenge of accessing clean drinking water.

In partnership with the Pori Development Association, the Foundation supported a K5,000 water project aimed at providing safe and reliable water to the community. The initiative helped reduce waterborne diseases, improved sanitation, and eased the burden on women and children who previously walked long distances to collect water.

Digicel PNG Foundation maintained its belief that every community deserves access to basic needs. By investing in locally driven solutions such as this, the Foundation continued to empower rural communities and improve lives across Papua New Guinea.

💦 Clean water marked the beginning, bringing health, dignity, an opportunity to Labu village.
