Celebrating the Future of Public Health!

Last week, the practical nursing students from Lae Nursing College who did their training at Etep Hospital, had the privilege of presenting their final year research project alongside fellow nursing students as part of their capstone assessment. It was an inspiring showcase of dedication, innovation, and a shared commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our communities.

They were honored to have in attendance representatives from the OIC, our valued church partners, esteemed lecturers, students, other key stakeholders and our CEO, Bradley James. Their presence and engagement meant the world to the team.

A significant number of the projects focused on pressing public health issues affecting our rural populations - from access to care and health education to disease prevention and community-based interventions. It was a powerful reminder of the impact research can have when rooted in real-world challenges.

We are grateful to have supported the students and provided mentorship, and collaboration that brought them to this milestone.

At Etep, we believe in training the next generation of rural healthcare workers for the benefit of future generations.

- Celebrating Future Nurses & Strengthening Partnerships

Over the past six weeks, Etep had the privilege of hosting five outstanding students from the Lae School of Nursing -Levi Wamp, Wesley Rande, Gule Som, Bruce Sipya, and Joshua Ebore - who completed their clinical attachment with us and departed on 27th September 2025.

Their contribution to our clinical work and minor projects was nothing short of remarkable. With professionalism, compassion, and a strong work ethic, they brought fresh energy to our team and left a lasting impact on our patients and staff alike.

At Etep, we believe that training is the heartbeat of progress. We’re proud to support the development of future healthcare professionals and are excited to build stronger partnerships with nursing schools and universities going forward. Our vision is to see Etep evolve into a recognized training facility, where learning and service go hand in hand.

To Levi, Wesley, Gule, Bruce, and Joshua - thank you for your dedication and for choosing Etep as part of your journey. We wish you every success in your careers and hope to welcome many more students in the future.

Update 17.07.25

As part of the hospital development, through the Tewae-Siassi DDA funding support, Etep Rural Hospital has completed the first 3BR staff house. The house was build by Toiitek Construction Limited who did a very good job in 3 months.
The hospital is looking to build more through the TS-DDA funds as we look to recruit more clinical and support staff.

In the drive towards the hospital developments. We are delighted to share that we have acquired a new Lucas Saw Mill for the hospital through the Tewae-Siassi DDA support.

Case Based Learning for Etep Clincial Staff.

Despite challenges, our clinical team strives to improve with case based learning.

Exactly 1 year and 1 month of Power Outage at Etep Rural Hospital.

Etep which services the remote parts of Wasu LLG, Kabwum District and parts of Raicoast of Madang Province continues to serve without reliable power supply.

This has affected service output, lives and Hospital operations.

The hospital prays and hope to see power restoration by appropriate bodies asap.
