𝐃𝐎𝐇-𝐍𝐖𝐂𝐆𝐇 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

In celebration of Global Handwashing Day 2025 with the theme “Clean Hands for All. Be a Handwashing Hero!”, the Northwestern Cagayan General Hospital (NWCGH) joined the global call for cleaner, healthier communities through proper hand hygiene, held on October 15, 2025, at the NWCGH Conference Hall.

The event was graced by our esteemed judges — Mr. Mario Antonio Sepe, RN, LPT, MST of Abulug School of Fisheries, Mr. Engelbert A. Alvarez, RN of Ballesteros District Hospital, and Dr. April Campos-Baccay, Medical Officer IV. Their presence and expertise made the celebration more meaningful and inspiring.

During the program, Dr. Jasmin Rose Umblas-Maladrigo, Chief of Hospital, highlighted the importance of hand hygiene as a simple yet powerful act that saves lives. She reminded everyone that clean hands are a reflection of care, compassion, and responsibility — values that define every healthcare worker. She also encouraged all staff to make handwashing not just a routine, but a daily promise to protect patients, colleagues, and the community.

This year’s celebration also featured two exciting and creative competitions — the Digital Poster Making Contest and the TikTok Handwashing Challenge. These activities aimed to foster creativity, encourage employee engagement, and strengthen our collective commitment to infection prevention and control through fun and innovative platforms.

By promoting the simple yet powerful act of handwashing, we continue to protect ourselves, our patients, and our communities from infectious diseases.
Together, let’s all be Handwashing Heroes! 💧

The Northwestern Cagayan General Hospital (NWCGH) has invited the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD) to conduct an orientation on the Department of Health’s (DOH) Medical Assistance for Indigents and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) Program held on October 9, 2025.

The activity aims to strengthen the readiness of DOH-NWCGH’s implementation of the MAIFIP program, which is designed to provide medical assistance to indigent and economically challenged patients, ensuring that essential health services remain accessible to those most in need.

During the orientation, representatives from CVCHD shared valuable insights and guidance on the efficient and transparent delivery of medical assistance under the MAIFIP framework. Their support plays a vital role in enhancing the hospital’s capacity to extend compassionate healthcare services to the community.

DOH-NWCGH expresses its sincere gratitude to CVCHD for their continued partnership and technical assistance in advancing the hospital’s mission of promoting inclusive, equitable, and quality healthcare for all. 💞

Northwestern Cagayan General Hospital to Hold Blood Letting Activity on October 22,2025

In line with its commitment to promote health and community welfare, Northwestern Cagayan General Hospital (NWCGH) will conduct a bloodletting activity on October 22, 2025, at the NWCGH OPD Lobby starting at 8:00 a.m.

The activity, themed “Dugo para sa Pag-asa,Pagkakaisa para sa Buhay” is organized in collaboration with Cagayan Valley Regional Blood Center and aims to encourage voluntary blood donation among the public.

The Northwestern Cagayan General Hospital–Public Health Unit, in partnership with the Senior Day Care Health and Wellness Center, proudly held an activity in celebration of Elderly Filipino Week—a national observance dedicated to honoring our beloved senior citizens conducted on October 1,2025 at Libertad, Abulug, Cagayan.

The program opened with an insightful health lecture on proper nutrition for older adults, delivered by our Nutritionist-Dietitian. This was followed by a lively Zumba session, led by the PHU team together with the Center’s assigned nurse, bringing energy, movement, and smiles to all participants.

More than just a health activity, this initiative sought to promote holistic well-being, encourage social connection, and highlight the importance of active and joyful aging.

Our senior citizens are living treasures of wisdom, resilience, and love. As a community, it is our duty and honor to care for them, celebrate them, and ensure they live healthy, meaningful lives.
