Cervical Cancer Awareness | National Women’s Month 2026

In celebration of the National Women’s Month, the Municipal Health Office of Albuera successfully conducted free Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) screening and breast examinations for women aged 35–49. This initiative aims to promote early detection, awareness, and prevention of cervical and breast cancer.

Cervical cancer is preventable and treatable when detected early, which is why regular screening and awareness are very important. Through this activity, women were encouraged to take an active role in protecting their health and becoming advocates for wellness in their families and communities.

Thank you to all the women who participated and took this important step for their health.

In line with the celebration of women’s month, the Rural Health Unit of Albuera invites all eligible women to avail of the FREE Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) – a screening test for cervical cancer for women aged 35–49 years.

📍 Venue: Albuera RHU, Poblacion, Albuera, Leyte
📅 Date: March 30, 2026 (Monday)

⚠️ Please be informed:
• This event can only cater 50 participants. Limited slots only.
• Kindly visit your designated Barangay Health Station or contact your barangay midwives to secure your slot.

💜 For those who may not be accommodated during the event, no worries!
We are happy to inform everyone that weekly VIA screening will be conducted at the Rural Health Unit. Please coordinate with your respective midwives at your designated Barangay Health Stations.

🎉 Successful Fully Immunized Child Recognition Program 🎉

A heartfelt congratulations to all the parents and our little champions of Barangay Tabgas, Albuera, Leyte for the successful conduct of the Fully Immunized Child Recognition Program! 💙

With a well-organized flow of activities—from the processional march, opening prayer, and inspiring messages from our esteemed speakers, to the awarding of certificates—this event truly highlighted the importance of protecting our children through complete immunization.

✨ A total of 22 children were proudly recognized as Fully Immunized Children (FIC)—a milestone that reflects not only the commitment of parents but also the dedication of our health workers, barangay officials, and partners.

Special thanks to our participants and speakers, including our barangay officials from Barangay Tabgas headed by Hon. Victoria C. Lagado, Municipal Health Office, headed by Dr. Twinkle Ann De la Cruz, Barangay Tabgas Health Station headed by Ma’am Rhiza Estrera together with the Barangay Health Workers and partner from Childfund Philippines, Mr. Jimwell Cañedo, whose messages strengthened our shared goal of a healthier community. 📣 Basic First Aid Training Successfully Conducted! 🚑

The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Albuera Staff together with DOH-HRH of Albuera successfully conducted a Basic First Aid Training last March 12, 2026, in partnership with the SK Federation of Brgy. Poblacion, Albuera, Leyte.

The activity was divided into two sessions to accommodate more participants:
☀️ Morning Session – attended by students from Albuera Private High School
🌤️ Afternoon Session – participated in by students from DGBZMSF

The training aimed to equip the youth with essential life-saving skills and knowledge on how to respond to common emergencies, promoting preparedness and quick action in times of need.

👏 A heartfelt thank you to all facilitators, partners, and enthusiastic students who actively participated and made this activity a success. Your willingness to learn first aid today can help save lives tomorrow!

Strengthening the National Immunization Program in Albuera

A Stakeholders’ Meeting was successfully conducted at the Barangay Hall of Balugo, Albuera, Leyte to strengthen the implementation of the National Immunization Program and further increase the Fully Immunized Child (FIC) coverage not only in Barangay Balugo but across the entire Municipality of Albuera.

The activity was attended by various community stakeholders in Brgy. Balugo together with the Barangay Balugo Council, headed by Hon. Rufino Valdez- Brgy. Chairman, Brgy Kagawad-Rodrigo Ventula and Durna Abastas- Kagawad on Health, whose presence showed strong local government support for child health initiatives.

During the meeting, the Rural Health Midwife of Balugo, Marifin Ventula, facilitated the discussion on the National Immunization Program, highlighting its importance in protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases. She also emphasized the vital roles of community stakeholders in ensuring that every child in the barangay receives complete immunization.

To conclude the activity, the stakeholders expressed their strong commitment to support the program by affixing their signatures to the Pledge of Commitment, signifying their collective dedication to promote and strengthen immunization efforts in the community.

This collaborative effort reflects the shared responsibility of the community, local leaders, and health workers in safeguarding the health and future of every child in Albuera. 💙💉

The Rural Health Unit of Albuera successfully conducted the 22nd National Oral Health Month Celebration in Talisayan, Albuera, Leyte, bringing together Day Care learners and pregnant women from all Barangay Health Stations in a unified effort to promote proper oral health care.Through interactive oral health education, toothbrushing demonstrations, fluoride application, and the distribution of oral health packages, the activity emphasized the importance of preventive dental care—especially for children and expectant mothers.This initiative was made possible through the leadership of Municipal Dentist Dr. Maharlika Suficiencia Fiel and the full support of Municipal Health Officer Dr. Twinkle Ann Dela Cruz, in collaboration with our valued partners and local officials.Together, we continue to build healthier smiles and a healthier Albuera community.🦷✨

The Rural Health Unit of Albuera successfully conducted the 22nd National Oral Health Month Celebration 2026 on February 24, 2026 in Barangay Talisayan, Albuera, Leyte, as part of the nationwide campaign, “Tara na! May Cleaning at Flouride, Saan ka pa! Pamilya una kong Dentista.”

This meaningful celebration was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Municipal Dentist Dr. Maharlika Suficiencia Fiel, with the full support and leadership of Municipal Health Officer Dr. Twinkle Ann De la Cruz.

Participants included Day Care pupils and ten (10) pregnant women from each Barangay Health Station of Albuera. Distribution of Oral Health Family Packages was carried out for pregnant women and Day Care children, as well as oral health packages for RHU staff and accredited guests.

An Inspirational Message was shared by SB Chairman on Health, Roberto Colasito, reinforcing the municipality’s continued support for health initiatives.

One of the highlights of the activity was the Oral Health Program Update and an informative discussion on the importance of calcium intake for pregnant women and their oral health by Dr. Maharlika Fiel and Lilah Jane Alvarado, RM(DOH-HRH). An engaging oral health education session on proper toothbrushing techniques and fluoride application was also conducted for the children.

The activity was graced by our distinguished guests , Hon. Roberto Colasito, MSWDO Mary Ann Fernandez and Mam Racquel Rosal whose presence further strengthened inter-agency partnership in promoting public health.

This celebration reflects Albuera’s unwavering commitment to building healthier smiles and a healthier community for all.
