Schools play a pivotal role in shaping the health and well-being of children and adolescents. The Health Promoting Schools framework integrates health into all aspects of school life. Immunization, as a cornerstone of preventive health, is a critical component of this framework. The Philippine Academy of Physicians in School Health, Inc. (PAPSHI) recognizes the critical role of schools in promoting health and preventing disease among students and the wider school community.
Despite existing guidelines from the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education (DepEd), and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on adolescent vaccination, gaps remain in the implementation of immunization programs, particularly in private schools.
Coincidentally, Adolescent Immunization Month is celebrated every August in the Philippines. This observance aims to raise awareness and intensify efforts to improve adolescent vaccination coverage nationwide. Leveraging this celebration, the event seeks to engage key stakeholders in schools — school administrators, human resource heads, school clinic heads, student affairs officers, and PTA officers — to promote the adoption of HPS frameworks that integrate comprehensive vaccination programs.
In this regard we would like to invite you to attend “Empowering Schools in Health: Collective Action to Build Health Promoting Schools and Communities” on August 22, 2025, at Otel Pampanga, Lazatin Blvd, City of San Fernando, Pampanga from 8 AM – 1 PM.
Registration to the event is free. Kindly follow the link for registration to the event.
