IN STILLNESS
(March 25, 2020)
I.
The clock is ticking, morning has come,
The alarm rings, louder as it gets longer
People start to head on to where their calendars say so,
Busily, hastily, in a world full of chores.
Accomplishing tasks, one by one
Finishing them in bulk at times,
People believe it defines their worth
That occupies their every thought.
Achievements, recognitions?
What could have been better?
Applause, admiration?
Surely wouldn’t hurt a go-getter!
People are in control,
Can attain what their minds have set,
They got all their needs,
With money and technology, all is met.
Hear the people say, just go on and on,
And get all things done,
Hear the people say, just get by and by,
And see everything will be fine.
II.
The clock is ticking, morning has come,
No alarm rings, can’t be heard, not even once,
People won’t head on to what their calendars say so,
A turn of events, indeed, a sudden change of course.
What a great battle to fight,
But to win, no one got an answer,
Suddenly, a world full of questions and fears,
With people suffering from confusions and tears.
But in silence, the Answer is there,
In stillness, Help is in the way,
Do not ignore, do not delay,
Prepare our hearts, prepare the way.
For in the quietness of our home, the Lord is there
In the hush of our hearts, He desires to meet us there
When the noise around us start to fade,
A still small voice will start to prevail.
“I am the Lord, heaven is my throne, the earth is my footstool”
“I am the Lord, without Me, you can do nothing”
“I am the Lord, is there anything too hard for Me to do?”
“I am the Lord, be still and know that I am God”
