SHMC Cancer Institute “Together we can fight CANCER.” The Institute was conceptualized by Dr. Nenita S. Tan-Canlas, along with the Oncology specialist staff.

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTE

The Sacred Heart Medical Center (SHMC) blessed and inaugurated the Cancer Institute on May 8, 2010. It offers a multi-disciplinary cancer care from prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, up to follow up care. The Institute consist mainly of a Chemo-ambulatory unit handled by the Medical Oncology team that offers an out-patient treatment for those patients requ

iring chemotherapy, and a Radiation Oncology facility with a Linear Accelerator machine equipped with 2D, 3D conformal and IMRT capabilities, as well as an ultrasound dedicated for Iodine seed implant brachytherapy for prostate. Other specialties that are part of the institute includes, ENT, Surgeons particularly for breast and colon, pain management and rehabilitation medicine.
