ANXIETY: Let’s Talk About It

Anxiety is part of our body’s natural “fight or flight” response to stress—but when worry, fear, or unease becomes excessive, persistent, or interferes with daily life, it could be an anxiety disorder.

Common symptoms include:
• Nervousness or restlessness
• Rapid heartbeat or breathing
• Trouble concentrating or sleeping
• Feeling weak or tired
• Nausea, diarrhoea, or a sense of doom

Types of anxiety disorders:
• Generalised anxiety
• Panic disorder
• Social anxiety
• Separation anxiety
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Managing anxiety can start with:
• Deep breathing and relaxation
• Regular exercise and a balanced diet
• Adequate sleep and limiting caffeine or alcohol
• Talking to a professional for therapy or medication options

Remember: Occasional anxiety is normal, but if your worries don’t go away or get worse, don’t wait. Seek help early—it’s easier to treat with timely support.

Stress affects both the mind and the body. A little bit of stress is good and can help us perform daily activities. Too much stress can cause physical and mental health problems. Learning how to cope with stress can help us feel less overwhelmed and support our mental and physical well-being.

You are not alone.. Keep in touch with family and friends and share your concerns and feelings with people you trust. Connecting with others can lift our mood and help us feel less stressed. (WHO Stress Management Guide)

Mental Health Awareness: You Are Not Alone

Do you find it hard to focus?
Worry too much?
Feel sad or get mad easily?
Struggle to concentrate on anything at all?

These can be signs that your mental health needs care—and that’s okay.

Mental health matters just as much as physical health. It’s strong, not weak, to ask for help. If you’re struggling, don’t hesitate to consult your doctor or a mental health professional. Support is out there.

Let’s continue to break the stigma and take care of ourselves and each other.
Your mind deserves kindness too.
