ANXIETY: Let’s Talk About It

Anxiety is part of our body’s natural “fight or flight” response to stress—but when worry, fear, or unease becomes excessive, persistent, or interferes with daily life, it could be an anxiety disorder.

Common symptoms include:
• Nervousness or restlessness
• Rapid heartbeat or breathing
• Trouble concentrating or sleeping
• Feeling weak or tired
• Nausea, diarrhoea, or a sense of doom

Types of anxiety disorders:
• Generalised anxiety
• Panic disorder
• Social anxiety
• Separation anxiety
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Managing anxiety can start with:
• Deep breathing and relaxation
• Regular exercise and a balanced diet
• Adequate sleep and limiting caffeine or alcohol
• Talking to a professional for therapy or medication options

Remember: Occasional anxiety is normal, but if your worries don’t go away or get worse, don’t wait. Seek help early—it’s easier to treat with timely support.
