Eye First Aid: What To Do if Something Gets in Your Eye 🤔

A tiny speck of dust, dirt, or even an eyelash can cause big discomfort when it gets into your eye. Here’s what you should do right away:

· Don’t rub your eye – rubbing can scratch your cornea.
· Blink repeatedly – let your natural tears wash it out.
· Wash or disinfect your hands before touching near your eyes.
· Rinse with clean water or saline solution.
· Use artificial tears to relieve irritation.
· Check in the mirror for any small visible particles.

Go to an eye doctor immediately if:
· The object is sharp or stuck in your eye.
· You feel severe pain or blurred vision.
· Redness, tearing, or swelling won’t go away.

• Chalazion
- Caused by a blocked oil gland, not an infection
- Usually painless, firm lump in the eyelid
- Develops slowly over weeks

Remember:
• Stye = painful & infected
• Chalazion = painless & blocked gland
Sometimes, a stye can turn into a chalazion if the gland stays clogged.

Both are types of red-green color vision deficiencies, but they affect your eyes in different ways:

🔴 Protan (Red-Deficient)
• Caused by an issue with the L-cones (red-sensitive cones)
• Reds may look darker, duller, or easily confused with greens/browns

🟢 Deutan (Green-Deficient)
• Caused by an issue with the M-cones (green-sensitive cones)
• Greens may look more reddish or brownish, making it harder to distinguish between red, green, and orange
