Dear Dads-to-be,
Your role in this journey to parenthood is just as important. If you’ve been scheduled for a s***m analysis, here are a few things to keep in mind:

✅ No ej*******on for 2 to 5 days before the test.
✅ No alcohol, smoking, or stress-inducing activities—your body needs your care.
✅ No lubricants during collection—most affect s***m quality.
✅ Avoid saunas, hot baths, or tight underwear 48–72 hrs prior.
✅ Collect the sample properly—ideally at the lab, or deliver it within 1 hour if done at home.
✅ Tell your doctor about any medications you're taking.

🚨 LEPTOSPIROSIS ALERT 🚨
💧🦠 Post-Flood Health Advisory
From the Philippine Infectious Diseases Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology (PIDSOG)

Wading in floodwaters puts you at risk for leptospirosis, a serious bacterial infection that can be life-threatening — especially for pregnant women.

Here’s what you need to know:

🧫 POST-EXPOSURE PROPHYLAXIS (within 24–72 hours of exposure)

🔹 Low Risk (waded in floodwater, no wounds):
➡️ Doxycycline 200mg single dose

🔹 Moderate Risk (flood exposure + wounds or swallowed water):
➡️ Doxycycline 200mg daily for 3–5 days

🔹 High Risk (residing in flooded area, multiple exposures, swam in dirty water):
➡️ Doxycycline 200mg once weekly until end of exposure

🚫 PRE-EXPOSURE prophylaxis is NOT routinely recommended.
Do NOT deliberately expose yourself to floodwater.

If travel to a high-risk area is unavoidable:
➡️ Doxycycline 200mg weekly, starting 1–2 days before and continuing until exposure ends.

👩‍🍼 FOR PREGNANT & LACTATING WOMEN

❌ Doxycycline is NOT SAFE
✅ Instead, take Azithromycin 500mg single dose within 24–72 hours of exposure.

Today, during my hospital rounds, I had the joy of seeing this sweet 4-year-old girl — a little miracle I had the privilege of delivering four years ago. 💖

Moments like these remind me why I do what I do. From the first heartbeat to first cries, and now seeing her smile and grow... it’s truly a blessing.

🍼✨ POSTPARTUM MYTH BUSTED! ✨🍼
"Combing your hair after giving birth will cause hair loss."

🚫 MYTH!
✅ FACT: Hair loss after childbirth is normal and temporary. It’s caused by hormonal changes—not because you combed your hair!

During pregnancy, estrogen levels are high, which keeps hair in a “growing” phase longer—giving you thicker, fuller hair. But after giving birth, estrogen levels drop, and the hair that didn’t fall out during pregnancy starts to shed. This usually peaks around 3 to 4 months postpartum.

💇‍♀️ So please don’t be afraid to comb your hair!
It actually helps prevent tangles and breakage. Gentle brushing, good nutrition, and self-care are all part of healing—physically and emotionally.

❤️ Mama, you’re doing an amazing job. Shedding a few strands of hair doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. You’re healing, growing, and thriving.
