: also known as whooping cough,
is a highly contagious bacterial disease. It is highly contagious in the early catarrhal stage, before paroxysmal cough. Incubation period is usually 7 days but it ranges from 5 to 15 days.

CAUSE
Bordetella pertussis bacteria

MODE OF TRANSMISSION
Acquired primarily through direct contact with discharges from respiratory mucus membranes of infected persons (The bacteria may be spread through droplets and indirect contact with articles freshly soiled with the discharges of infected persons.)

SIGNS & SYMPTOMS
• Cough persisting 2 or more weeks
• Fits of coughing
• Cough followed by vomiting

TREATMENT
Antibiotics may shorten the period of communicability from 7 days after exposure to 3 weeks after onset of typical paroxysms to only 5-7 days after onset therapy.

PREVENTION
Three primary immunization doses of DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis vaccine) confer immunity to pertussis. Booster doses are recommended to be given after 1 year old, 4-6 years old, and at 11 years old.

The 5-in-1 vaccine, also known as the DTaP/IPV/Hib vaccine, is one of the first vaccines that your baby will have. It's a single injection which protects them against five serious childhood diseases.
These five illnesses are diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis), polio, and Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b).

This Penta/5-in-1 immunization is available in health centers nationwide.

NEWS|𝐌𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌𝐎, 𝐁𝐅𝐏 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞-𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬

Aritao National High School (ANHS) played host to a comprehensive two-day Basic First Aid Training program held on September 21-22, 2023 facilitated by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office(MDRRMO)-Aritao and Bureau of Fire Protection(BFP)-Aritao . This event, aimed at providing students with essential life-saving skills, drew participation from Grade-8 representatives, Grades 9 and 10 class presidents, CAT medics, and selected teachers.

The said activity covered a wide array of topics related to Basic First Aid and Basic Life Support. The trainees received an informative overview of First Aid procedures that evoked them to be prepared and cautious if a sudden disaster or an emergency occurs.

"Bear in mind na dapat tayong mga first responders o first-aiders ang uunahin ang safety, because once there is a danger you cannot proceed," said FO3 Melga Dugaysan.

Other topics covered are Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Bandaging, and Emergency Rescue Transfer, with a particular emphasis on hands-on exercises.

"[Magkakaroon ng] simple simulation exercise for us to evaluate iyong natutunan niyo for the two-days seminar," said Remelyn V. Del Campo, LDRRMO III.

The Basic First-Aid Training is an event proposed by Mignonette Erim O. Dulay, School Nurse. This initiative reflects ANHS' commitment, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Aritao, to the safety and well-being of its students, empowering them with valuable skills that can be applied both within the school and in the wider community.

Nagkaroon ng Fire Drill sa paaralan ng Aritao National High School na pinangunahan ng Bureau Of Fire Protection ng Bayan ng Aritao noong Marso 9, 2023, ala-una ng hapon.

Nagbigay ang mga BFPs ng iba't ibang kaalaman sa pagpatay ng sunog at paggamit ng fire extinguisher. Isinagawa ito upang magsilbing aral at maging handa ang mga estudyante, at maging mga g**o, kung mayroon mang maganap na sunog.

Maging alerto sa anumang sakuna, dahil mas mainam ang may alam, dapat laging handa!

On the Circulating Messages related to the COVID-19 XBB Variant

The Department of Health (DOH) warns against messages linking DOH Department Memorandum No. 2022-0578 to disseminate inaccurate information on Omicron XBB Subvariant symptoms. The said document was issued to intensify surveillance activities amidst rising COVID-19 cases abroad.

In general, COVID-19 exhibits Flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, headache, body pain, diarrhea - among others.

For proper diagnosis of symptoms, consult with your physician or head to the nearest health facility. To help prevent further transmission of COVID-19, continue observing proper sanitation, masking, distancing, and good ventilation. Further, vaccination remains to be the best defense against severe COVID-19.

The DOH enjoins the public to source information only from legitimate sources and platforms, through the official social media page.

Basahin at ibahagi ang impormasyong ito para sa kaligtasan mo at ng iyong mga mahal sa buhay.

Kapag nakaramdam ng mga sintomas ng HFMD, KonsulTayo agad sa pinakamalapit na Primary Care Providers.

Naitala ang 551 kaso ng Chikungunya sa bansa ayon sa huling ulat, na 589% na mas mataas kumpara sa parehong panahon noong 2021, naitala ang pagtaas ng kaso sa mga lugar na nalubog sa tubig-baha dahil sa mga pag-ulan na dulot ng Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.

Hindi kasing lubha ng dengue ang Chikungunya ngunit wala pa ring bakuna o gamot laban dito kaya't hinihikayat ang lahat na panatilihing malusog ang sarili at malinis ang ating kapaligiran upang tayo ay hindi mabiktima nito.

Narito ang ilan sa mga impormasyong napapanahon at dapat nating malaman upang tayo ay makasigurado sa ating kaligtasan laban sa sakit dulot ng Chikungunya.
