Doubts and Choices
When in a relationship with a significant other, it is common that the words and acts of the significant other affects our own moods, emotions and general wellbeing.
When we doubt the truth of the words of the significant other such doubts affect our own emotions, our thinking, our day, our acts. Reflecting on this, I realize that it is actually our own doubts and our own thoughts that affect our emotions, our day and our acts. I also realize that our doubts and thoughts are our own and hence within our control. We can actually choose what to think, we can choose whether to doubt or not to doubt. When we choose to doubt, we can choose what to do about it and how to act, how to go forward with our doubts. We can choose to believe that our significant other is telling us a falsehood and construct in our mind what we believe to be the truth even without outside confirmation and act based on that personal belief. Or we can choose to brush aside our doubts and believe that our significant other is telling the truth and we can act based on this personal belief. Perhaps whatever the truth is it is actually what we choose to believe that is relevant to own mental health. At the end of the day perhaps it is relevant to consider that your significant other is doing what s/he believes is necessary for her/his own survival and happiness, and has no intent to cause you harm.
So quit overthinking. Just be positive and choose to be kind and choose to love always.
