Did you know that about 1 in 3 Filipinos suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease or CKD? 😱 CKD reduces the kidney’s ability to filter blood and excrete waste and leads to symptoms such as edema (pamamanas), difficulty breathing (panghihingal), and weakness (panghihina), among others.

Treatments for this disease include dialysis or kidney transplantation. Each year, around 1,500 kidney transplants are performed, offering a new life for the organ recipients who can now lead happier and healthier lives. 🏥👩🏽‍⚕️

However, organ availability cannot keep up with the increasing demand. This is why over 8,000 Filipinos are on the waiting list for a kidney transplant, hoping for a chance at a brighter future.

So what can we do to help? 🤔

By pledging to be an organ donor, ✨YOU✨ can be the beacon of hope for someone in need. Join the mission to combat kidney disease. Register as an organ donor today. 💪

🍃 Fyi naman sa mga CKD warriors at pre KT. 🍃

Living with someone who has kidney failure requires careful attention to their health and well-being. Here are some detailed tips to help you navigate this situation:

1. Dietary Management:

Work closely with a dietitian to plan meals that adhere to the recommended nutritional guidelines. This often involves limiting salt, potassium, and phosphorus intake.

2. Fluid Intake Monitoring:

Keep track of the person's fluid intake, as excessive fluid retention can be harmful. Follow the guidelines provided by healthcare professionals regarding fluid restrictions.

3. Manage Medications:

Organize and administer medications as prescribed. Keep a record of medications, dosages, and any changes. Be aware of potential interactions with other drugs or supplements.

4. Monitor Vital Signs:

Regularly check blood pressure and weight as directed by healthcare providers. Sudden changes may indicate a need for medical attention.

5. Create a Safe Environment:

Make necessary adjustments at home to ensure safety. This may include installing handrails, removing tripping hazards, and providing a comfortable space for resting.
