The Department of Internal Medicine recently went on their annual Rest and Relaxation retreat to Sipalay. We took time to have a break from the busy schedules and enjoy the warm company of friends, family, and mentors. It was a time to reflect on the lessons learned, the experiences shared, and the plans that lay ahead. And thus we return to our work, rested, renewed, and reinvigorated.

The TDHI Department of Internal Medicine was recently named as Department of the Year by our beloved Post Graduate Interns.

We graciously and gratefully accept this award in recognition of the Department's dedication to medical learning and holistic training of not only our Residents but also our Interns. We remain commited to effective patient care, and the goal of imparting essential knowledge and skills to the next generation of physicians and specialists.

We are also proud to have our very own Dr Cyril Franz Magbanua be named Resident Physician of the Year. We applaud his resolve to give the best care for his patients and his eagerness to teach our Interns about the beauty of Medicine, an example to which all in the Department of Internal Medicine aspire to.

Likely from Sanskrit: अधिक (adhika) — meaning more, greater, superior, exceeding, abundant, high.

A fitting and timely word that encapsulates this incredible batch of interns along with their lofty goals and determination to succeed.

The TDH Department of Internal Medicine, its consultants, and its residents are proud of your achievements and salute the doctors you have become and look with eager anticipation at the doctors you soon will be, no longer as our interns but as our colleagues in this healing profession.

As you embark on your journey to the boards, may you always carry that spark in your soul that drives you to give the very best of yourselves to your patients.

This month of July, we ask our residents to imagine if they had the chance to meet their fresh-from-the-board-exams selves, and right before going into Internal Medicine residency. What would they tell their younger selves after having already been through much of what residency has to throw at them?

It's a timely question to ask, as our beloved Post-Graduate Interns are also soon heading out to take their board exams, and soon will also face that daunting question, "Is Residency right for me?"

We would like to thank all the attendees of the Department of Internal Medicine's lecture entitled:

"Basics of CT Scan and MRI in Stroke Management"

The activity brought together members from various hospital departments including the nursing staff, radiology technicians, hospital residents and consultants, and other stakeholders to expand their awareness of Stroke and the role each member plays in its timely and effective management.

With this training, the Department aims to reinforce the hospital's status as a "Stroke-ready Hospital", alongside the best centers in the country.

A special thank you to Dr Rodolfo Germinal Jr, Dr Gerard Charles Jimenez, and Dr Martina Historiador, for sharing their time and expertise on Stroke recognition and neuroimaging.
