Today, let us get to know our first year residents in the Department of Internal Medicine.
Often dubbed as the hardest year in residency, the first year is both challenging and rewarding. You meet and get to know a lot of people, colleagues, and allied health professionals. You encounter and manage illnesses for the first time. You present cases before an august body of consultants and of your peers. It will involve setting foot away from one's comfort zone and embarking on a crucible of long nights, ward calls, and codes.
Yet beyond the long nights, ward calls, and moments of self-doubt, what truly carries our first year residents through is the people around them. In our Department of Internal Medicine, no one is expected to grow alone. Seniors guide, consultants mentor, and colleagues quietly look out for one another.
We look forward to seeing these great doctors and Internists-in-training at the wards and stations!
