"She Thought It Was Just Bad Posture… Until the X-ray Told a Different Story."
Two teenage girls from Negros faced the same silent condition — scoliosis — but with early action and the right care, their lives took a powerful turn.

Scoliosis doesn’t always come with pain. Sometimes, it hides behind uneven shoulders, a tilted waist, or clothes that just don’t fit right. But left unchecked, the curve worsens — and so does the fear of what comes next.

At Flexi Spine and Scoliosis Clinic, we believe early intervention changes everything. And these two young scoliosis warriors are living proof.

👧🏻 One patient, a teenager from Bacolod, was already living with a severe 84° spinal curve when she first came to our clinic.
She felt discomfort, insecurity, and worry — knowing her case was serious. But instead of giving in to fear, she took action.

Through specialized scoliosis therapy and a custom CMP brace, her curve made a dramatic improvement — reducing to 49°. Today, she stands taller, walks with confidence, and lives with renewed hope for her future.

👧🏻 Another teenage girl, also from Negros, was shocked when a routine school check-up revealed scoliosis.
Her initial spinal curves were 22° and 43° — a double curve that would have quietly progressed if left untreated.

She began her journey with Flexi Spine using our SpineCor Dynamic Soft Brace paired with guided therapy. Her results? Life-changing. Her curves reduced to 10° and 20°, and she now moves more freely, empowered by the support she received.

💜 These are not just patients — they are warriors who proved that with the right team and timely care, scoliosis doesn’t get to write the ending.

✅ Whether you’re a parent or a teen facing a scoliosis diagnosis, know this: you don’t have to wait until it gets worse.
The earlier the action, the better the outcome.

“Habang naghihintay ka… baka lumalala na ang scoliosis ng anak mo.”
Hindi mo lang alam — unti-unti nang nawawala ang confidence niya. 💔
---
Noong una, konting tabingi lang daw sa likod ng anak niya.
20 degrees scoliosis-
Sabi ng doktor, “Observe lang muna tayo.”
So the mom waited.

Pero habang nag-oobserve siya,
yung anak niya naman…
Tahimik lang. Pero araw-araw,
unti-unti na ring sumasakit ang likod at bumababa ang confidence.

👧 Ayaw na niya ng fitted na damit.
👧 Ayaw mag-picture. Laging Nahiya.
👩 At bilang magulang, ang sakit makita yun.

Hindi pa man lumalala ang curve,
pero ramdam na ramdam na nila ang epekto.
Sa likod. Sa katawan. Sa puso.
---
💔 Kaya they decided to act.

They went to Flexi Spine & Scoliosis Clinic where they offer all types of Scoliosis Therapy and Brace (From hard brace to comfort brace).
Doon nila na try ang SpineCor Dynamic Brace for Scoliosis.

Hindi madali.

👧 Sa unang linggo, uncomfortable.
Minsan mainit. Minsan gusto na niyang tanggalin.
Pero sa bawat araw na tiniis niya —
lumalakas siya.

Hanggang isang araw, napansin niya:
✨ Wala na ang back pain
✨ Mas tuwid na siyang tumayo
✨ Mas proud na siyang humarap sa salamin
---
And after just 5 months of wearing the brace consistently…
✅ No more scoliosis!
✅ Perfect posture.
✅ Smile wide and confident.
✅ A child finally standing tall again — inside and out.
---
👩Mom: “Every cent we spent was worth it.”
👧 Child: “Sobrang saya ko na. And I'm more confident.”

💡 Health is not an expense. It’s an investment — and we’ll never regret choosing to act early.

Hi, I am Rey and this is my scoliosis story. 🩻

In 2022, as the world slowly began to heal from the pandemic, I was faced with a personal challenge that would change the way I saw myself and the world around me. That was the year I discovered I had scoliosis, a condition that would not only test my physical strength, but also my emotional and mental toughness. My journey since then has been a struggle, then adaptation, and later on, acceptance.

It all began when my mom noticed a slight hump on my back. Concerned, she took me to my pediatrician, who recommended an x-ray. That was when we learned that I had scoliosis, with three curves in the thoracic and lumbar regions of my spine. At that time, I had little understanding of what scoliosis meant or how it would affect my life. Soon after, I started physical therapy at my first clinic. I was nervous, expecting painful and difficult exercises. However, the therapy began with simple movements and gradually became more challenging. Over time, I adjusted and became more comfortable with the routine.
After a year of consistent therapy, I had another x-ray. Unfortunately, the curve was still present, so I transferred to a new rehabilitation facility at St. Paul’s Hospital. Despite months of therapy at the new clinic, my scoliosis continued to worsen. That’s when my physiologist recommended that I should wear a brace. After a long wait, we finally found Flexi Spine and Scoliosis Clinic, where I met Dr. Maria Celine Villo, a scoliosis specialist. After her evaluation, she diagnosed me with severe scoliosis and told us I was a candidate for surgery. To avoid this, she strongly advised me to start wearing a brace.
Wearing the brace was a difficult transition. It was uncomfortable and made me feel very self-conscious, especially when people stared, wondering what was under my clothes. At first, I saw the brace as a burden. But over time, my mindset shifted. I began to see the brace not as something that held me back, but as something that could help me move forward. I reminded myself of the sacrifices my parents had made to get me that brace, and I chose to wear it with purpose and pride.

This journey with scoliosis has been challenging, but it has also shaped me into a stronger and more resilient person now. I am deeply thankful to everyone who has supported me along the way, my physical therapists, doctors, family, and especially God, who has been my source of strength through it all.

To anyone else facing scoliosis: you are not alone. Keep fighting, stay hopeful, and trust that with perseverance, things can and will get better. All glory to God.

My Scoliosis Journey💪

Hi, I'm Erich, 13 years old and was diagnosed with mild scoliosis last January 2024. As a teen, my focus were in acads, singing, dancing, being with friends and family but things went differently when I felt back pain for almost weeks and noticed that I have uneven shoulders. I was unaware of what scoliosis is and the moment my family knew about my condition, they were worried and it made me nervous to see their reaction, thinking I am suffering from illness that will never ever heal. It was hard to accept at first that I have this condition. I isolate myselft and everytime I look at the mirror, I saw a reflection of a different teen who is slowly losing confidence and struggling self-consciousness about my appearance bearing thoughts in my mind that I am not normal like the other kids. However, my parents stood by me in my clouding moments offering comfort and support with the assurance that we would face this challenge together.

My aunt checked my shoulders and back, and suspected that I have scoliosis. She recommended us to visit a specialist for bone as soon as possible to confirm her guess about my case. We visited a doctor and undergo an x-ray which showed that I am indeed suffering from Mild Scoliosis. The doctor said that we will monitor my condition for three months but no medications were given. After 3 months, my scoliosis got worsened from 26 degrees to 37 degrees. The doctor referred us to consult a surgeon for possible surgery. My family and I were scared because a spine surgery will surely cost us a million and that is too risky.

Very timely that it was June 2024 and it's Scoliosis Awareness Month and we tried to search for possible treatment aside from surgery on scoliosis in social media and saw a post from Flexi Spine Facebook account with Dr. Ma. Celine N. Villo who is conducting theraphy with great feedbacks from their patients. We consulted with her, then I found out that my scoliosis turned 45 degrees from 37. After the first consultation with Dr. Villo, we saw a big chance to beat the rapid growth of my scoliosis. With the expertise of Dr. Ma. Celine N. Villo, I began my journey toward healing. The process wasn't easy for we needed to sacrifice money, time and effort to start my theraphy. With the help of my amazing therapist, Ms. Jona Tayson Ogatis who helped me through my treatment and healing, I found the strength to fight and be brave. Her support was very valuable. I never felt alone since the day I started with Flexi Spine.

With God's divine providence throughout my journey, I am forever grateful. Having Scoliosis taught me resilience, self love and greater faith to God who planned out everything ahead of us. I've realized that life it's not about perfection but about being brave and living life to the fullest without any insecurities about my physical appearance. If you are experiencing this situation and losing your light, remember that you are not alone. God prepared people who understand and will help you in this battle just like my Flexi Spine Family. Stay positive, stay strong and learned to love your self. Your worth and beauty is far beyond your physical appearance. You got this! You are stronger than you think and God's got your back!

Thank you Dr. Ma Celine Villo,ms Jona Tayson Ogatis, Ms. Jhonna and Flexi spine clinic🩷.

Rising Above the Curve: My Child's Scoliosis Journey

One day, while my child was changing her clothes, I noticed something that made my heart drop — her shoulder blades weren’t aligned, and the left one was sticking out more than the right. At first, I tried to convince myself it was just her posture, but deep inside, I was terrified something was wrong with her bones.

I immediately brought her to the the doctor hoping it was nothing serious. But when the doctor saw her, she referred us to a specialist she trusted, Dr. Ma. Celine Villo — the same doctor who helped her own sister. That’s when my fear turned real: It was diagnosed and confirmed that my child has scoliosis. My heart sank. I couldn’t stop asking myself where I went wrong, despite Dr. Villo reassuring me that it’s hereditary. I kept replaying everything in my mind — from the moment I held her as a baby to how I’ve cared for her every single day. For days, I couldn’t sleep. All I could think about was her condition and how much I wished I could take it away from her.

My heart shattered most when I found out that my child’s scoliosis wasn’t just a simple curve, but a triple S-curve and her spine is shifting more on the left side. It was so painful to hear, but Dr. Villo gave me hope — she assured me there’s still a chance to correct it. She recommended weekly therapy sessions and a brace to help straighten her spine.

It’s not easy, and it’s quite expensive too, but all I care about is my child’s recovery and her future. I know it will be a long journey, but I’ll do everything I can to help her stand tall and live without pain.

My child’s scoliosis journey is not an easy one. It is not a simple one but I know she can’t fully understand everything yet — she’s only nine years old — but someday, I believe she’ll realize and appreciate all the love and effort i've given her as her mother.

This isn’t just her journey; it’s mine too. As her mother, I felt the pain first, and I carried her worries in my heart. It was so hard to accept in the beginning, but now, with the care of Flexi Spine and Scoliosis Clinic under the expertise of Dr. Ma. Celine Villo, Physiatrist, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist . I have faith that my child will rise above this curve and ill be holding her hands every step of the way. I choose to stay strong for my child every single day.

To doc Villo, thank you so much for helping me understand my child’s condition and for guiding me to see her situation positively.
I also want to expreas my heartfelt gratitude to Miss Bless, our physical therapist. I appreciate your patience and dedication in helping my child.
