From Bacolod to the World Stage!

We are beyond proud to celebrate the international milestone of our very own Level 1 OB-GYN Resident, Dr. Marc Vision Capunong, who presented his interesting case report titled
“Distal Vaginal Atresia: An Atypical Cause of Outflow Tract Obstruction”
at the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS) Congress in Japan — a prestigious platform for global reproductive health experts.

As if that wasn’t enough, his paper has also been accepted for poster presentation at the upcoming RCOG World Congress in June 2025.
What an extraordinary achievement for a first-year resident!

This is what happens when passion meets mentorship - equipping future leaders, researchers, and global contributors. Through strong academic grounding, supportive consultants (especially the mentor for this paper, Dr. Olive Lindero), the dynamic hands-on learning, and opportunities that reach far beyond our local borders, we shape doctors who make a difference.

Empowered Choices. Healthier Futures.

We proudly celebrated Family Planning Day with over 50 dedicated employees of Adventist Medical Center–Bacolod who showed their commitment to informed reproductive health!

Led by our very own Dr. Marc Leong, the event featured a dynamic family planning lecture that sparked meaningful conversations and clarified common misconceptions. Participants received free family planning consultations, and condoms and pills were distributed to those who needed them—because accessible reproductive care matters.

This successful event was made possible through the support of our OB-GYN consultants, the energy and commitment of our residents and interns, and the generosity of our pharmaceutical partners. Your contributions made this outreach not just informative, but impactful.

We stood united in Silay City as we celebrated World Preeclampsia Day with a heart full of purpose and service.

Community partnership with PSMFM, POGS-NOC, TLJPH Department of OB-GYN, and AMC-B Department of OB-GYN, and with the incredible support of 25 active midwives from the Silay LGU Health Sector, we brought maternal health to the frontlines.

From insightful health lectures on preeclampsia, to free prenatal checkups for 47 expectant mothers, to 50 women receiving free ultrasound services, and free prenatal medicines - this day was a true celebration of life, empowerment, and prevention.

To the midwives, thank you for being the heartbeat of our communities.
To every mother who came, thank you for trusting us with your journey.
To the pharmaceutical partners, thank you for your support.

Let’s continue to raise awareness, save lives, and ensure that no mother is left behind.

🌸 Empowering Women’s Health: Free Cervical Cancer Screening for International Women’s Month 🌸

In celebration of International Women’s Month, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology - AMCB proudly extended free cervical cancer screening services through VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid). Our dedicated team of OB-GYN consultants, residents, and interns came together to provide essential women’s health services, ensuring that more women have access to early detection and preventive care.

👩‍⚕️💜 A total of 41 patients were screened, and for those with suspicious cervical findings, free cervical biopsy services were offered to ensure timely diagnosis and management.

This initiative would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of our OB-GYN team, the Marketing Department, and all those who supported and participated in this meaningful event. Your efforts have made a real difference in women’s lives!

To all the strong, beautiful women out there—your health matters, your life matters! Let’s continue to spread awareness and advocate for accessible healthcare for all.

BAMC, Department of OB-GYN joins Buntis Day 2025 at Ayala Malls Capitol Central

On March 10, 2025, Ayala Malls Capitol Central became a haven of love, care, and empowerment as expectant mothers gathered for Buntis Day 2025—a celebration dedicated to the strength and beauty of motherhood.

Moms-to-be were treated to a day filled with educational talks, free prenatal check-ups, wellness sessions, and interactive workshops, all aimed at ensuring a healthy and joyful pregnancy journey. Experts in obstetrics and maternal health shared invaluable insights, while support groups and community organizations provided guidance and encouragement.

Adding to the heartfelt celebration, fun activities, giveaways, and special performances created an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie, making every mother feel cherished and empowered.

As the day ended, it was more than just an event—it was a movement, a reaffirmation that every mother deserves the best care, support, and recognition. Buntis Day 2025 was a true testament to the power of community, celebrating life and the incredible journey of motherhood.

Burnout is real, but so is the power of support, gratitude, and open communication. Thanks to Dr. Bysshe Fernan-Sta. Cruz, we identified the silent struggles of emotional fatigue and learned how to address them—not as a sign of weakness, but as a step toward growth.

This is just the beginning of a culture shift—one where residents and interns uplift each other, where gratitude is expressed, and where a positive environment strengthens our well-being. Consultant-Led Case-Based Discussion: Ovarian Reserve and Surgical Interventions – A Paradigm Shift Toward Reproductive Longevity

Dr. Olive Lindero, a reproductive endocrinologist, collaborated with Dr. Toni Chavez, a Level 1 OB-GYN resident, presented a comprehensive review of current practice guidelines on ovarian reservation and the indications for ovarian removal. Their discussion aimed to provide consultants, residents, and interns with a structured approach to balancing surgical necessity and reproductive preservation, particularly in the management of benign ovarian conditions.

The discussion underscored the shifting paradigm in surgical interventions, focusing on individualized patient care, long-term hormonal implications, and fertility considerations. By integrating evidence-based guidelines with clinical judgment, the session equipped attendees with practical strategies for optimizing surgical decision-making while preserving reproductive longevity whenever possible.
