Over 4.5 million women and babies die annually in pregnancy, childbirth or the first weeks after birth - that's 1 death every 7 seconds.

Most of these deaths are preventable and/or treatable with the right care. However investments in maternal and newborn health have reduced – risking millions of lives.

Get yourself tested with Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) during pregnancy. It only takes a few steps to prevent Congenital Syphilis. Do not let Syphilis overpower you. Get tested and get treated early in pregnancy. You (yes you) can protect your baby. For further inquiries do not hesitate to ask your friendly obstetrician. 🧑🏻‍⚕️🧑🏻‍⚕️🧑🏻‍⚕️

Despite being preventable and treatable, syphilis is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. If it is not detected and treated early during pregnancy, it can be passed from mom to baby, with significant health risks. When testing and treatment are provided early in pregnancy, congenital syphilis can be easily prevented and treated. This is an essential part of quality antenatal care, and should be available to all women in all countries.
