Weight loss and lunasin

In an experiment conducted at University of Missouri to determine metabolic effects of lunasin-enriched soy extract (LunaRich) in combination with a soy-based core nutrition developed by Dr. Carl Hasting (Reliv NOW) on Rapacz pigs (genetically predisposed to obesity, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases), an unexpected result was the reduction of weight gain in the obese pigs when their casein-based diet was replaced by a soy-based diet, supplemented with lunasin and NOW core nutrition.

The Rapacz pigs started gaining weight again 4 weeks after stopping the lunasin/NOW core nutrition treatment and replacing diet with casein.

The weight loss corresponded with the increase in leptin (hormone associated with suppressing hunger) and adiponectin (hormone associated with boosting metabolism) in pigs treated with lunasin and NOW core nutrition.
