Horizon The official source of updates from Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital. Horizon.

Have you ever gone to the beach, stood still, and watched over the line where the sky and Earth seemed to meet? And as the sun sank beneath that line, have you wondered how far that horizon stretched…or wondered what lies beyond that boundary? A horizon is a boundary of what we can see—a range of what we know, perceive, or anticipate—but our hearts can set our vision where our eyes cannot see. The official publication of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital heralds the age of pushing the boundaries of health service delivery as we cast our visions beyond what our eyes can see. And as we embark on the journey of discovering new territories, we break the limits of what we know, what we can accomplish, and what we can be.

Community-Based Mental Health and mhGAP Initiatives: A Year in Review
By: Ms. Keisha Charisse O. Digon, RPsy, RPm - Horizon Correspondent, Mental Health Unit

Throughout the year, the Mental Health Unit (MHU) remained steadfast in its commitment to expanding access to mental health services and strengthening community-based care across the province. In line with this commitment, the unit implemented community-based mental health initiatives focused on direct service delivery, outreach, and continuity of care for individuals and families in need of support.

To bring essential services closer to communities with limited access, home visitations were conducted to address emerging needs, monitor ongoing cases, and ensure continuity of care. These efforts helped reduce barriers to care, reinforced sustained follow-up, and strengthened coordination between hospital-based and community-level mental health services.

In parallel, the Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP) was operationalized through structured capacity-building activities for community and non-specialist healthcare providers. These initiatives strengthened early identification, appropriate referral, and sustained care for individuals with mental, neurological, and substance use conditions, in alignment with the Philippine Mental Health Law (RA 11036).

Pharmacy Department Conducts National Pharmacy Week Activities
By: Ms. Jennifer Delfin, RPH

The CLMMRH Pharmacy Department conducted a series of activities from December 22–26, 2025 in celebration of National Pharmacy Week, highlighting the role of pharmacists in promoting the safe, effective, and rational use of medicines while responding to the needs of both hospital patients and the community.

The highlight of the celebration was the community outreach and relief distribution activity held on December 22, 2025, at Sitio Bucalan, Brgy. RSB, La Carlota City, in collaboration with the Public Health Unit (PHU). The activity aimed to assist families affected by Typhoon Tino, through the distribution of rice, purified drinking water containers, vitamins, hygiene kits, packed lunch, and informational flyers on proper medication handling and hygiene practices. The outreach activity reflected the hospital’s commitment to compassion, service, and public health support during times of need.

An in-hospital awareness campaign was also conducted at various waiting areas within the hospital, where informational flyers were distributed to patients, hospital personnel, and visitors to promote medication safety and awareness of the role of pharmacists in patient care. Vitamins and tumblers were likewise given as tokens during the activity.

The celebration also included a Pharmacy Department strategic planning activity held on December 23, 2025, at Room 201, USLS Extension, which provided pharmacists with an opportunity to reflect on completed initiatives, identify operational challenges, and set priority directions aligned with the hospital’s strategic goals.

Through these activities, the Pharmacy Department reaffirmed its commitment to patient safety, public health, and continuous quality improvement. Guided by service, compassion, and professionalism, the department remains steadfast in its mission to support healing not only through medicines, but through meaningful engagement with patients, colleagues, and the community it serves.

5th Year | ED Gives Back 🤍
One Team. One Mission.
By: Ms. Jeanette Uy, RN - Nurse Manager, Emergency Department

This holiday season, the Emergency Department shares warmth and joy through a simple token of appreciation. The support of all the different departments working with ED through every adrenaline-fueled hustle means everything to us, and we never forget the importance of taking care of our own.

For the past five years, “ED Gives Back” has been the Emergency Department’s way of remembering and thanking the men and women who have supported the ED in countless ways. This year, we distributed 100 packs of goods to individuals and offices within CLMMRH who have been part of our mission to serve our patients with compassion and dedication.

You are more than colleagues; you are family in service. Thank you for walking with us in caring for the sick and responding to our calls whenever we needed assistance.

From the Emergency Department family, thank you for your partnership and continued support.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

This Christmas season, we are reminded that healing begins not only in our halls, but in the love of family and the care we give one another. At the heart of our hospital’s mission is a deep commitment to serve, protect, and walk alongside every family we are entrusted with.

As we celebrate this season of hope, may our community be strengthened by compassion, kindness, and unity. To every patient, family member, and caregiver—thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey. Your trust inspires us to continue caring with dedication, empathy, and respect.

May this Christmas bring comfort to your homes, peace to your hearts, and good health to your loved ones. From all of us at the hospital, we wish you a meaningful Christmas and a hopeful New Year.

DOH–NIR Declares CLMMRH Ready for Yuletide Health Risks
By: Ms. Jeanette Uy, RN - Nurse Manager, Emergency Department

Representatives from the Department of Health – Negros Island Region Center for Health Development (DOH–NIR CHD) conducted a Facility Readiness Assessment at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), last December 23, 2025.

This activity forms part of the DOH–NIR CHD Ligtas Christmas Campaign 2025, which aims to ensure that health facilities are fully prepared to address the increased health risks commonly observed during the holiday season.

The assessment evaluated CLMMRH’s overall preparedness in terms of service delivery, staffing, logistics, and emergency response capacity, with particular focus on the effective management of seasonal and high-risk injury patterns anticipated during the yuletide period.

The Yuletide Injury Surveillance covers the following priority categories:

* Fireworks-Related Injuries (FWRI)
* Road Crash Injuries (RCI)
* Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), specifically Stroke, Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), and Bronchial Asthma (BA)

Results of the inspection confirmed that all required and essential elements are in place. Based on the findings, CLMMRH has been assessed as fully compliant and fully ready to implement yuletide injury surveillance and response measures.

Official reporting commenced on December 21, 2025, and will continue until January 6, 2026, in full compliance with DOH–NIR CHD reporting guidelines.

With systems, personnel, and protocols firmly in place, CLMMRH stands ready to provide timely, safe, and compassionate care throughout the holiday season, ensuring that the spirit of Christmas is safeguarded by vigilance, preparedness, and an unwavering commitment to public health.
