August 13, 2025- We had an incredibly productive day at Binuni Elementary School, where the Rural Health Unit of Bacolod, Lanao del Norte, conducted a comprehensive health assessment and a "PuroKalusugan" program for all students. It's so important to perform these health assessments to catch potential health issues early, ensuring our young learners are healthy and ready to focus on their studies.

Our team was busy all day, starting at 7 a.m. and finishing just before 7 p.m., to make sure we could assess every single student. We didn't just stop at check-ups—we also provided dental fluoride varnish, which is crucial for preventing cavities and strengthening teeth. Additionally, we held informative lectures on hygiene, nutrition, and more as part of our Healthy Young Ones initiative.

A special thank you to the entire teaching faculty and staff of Binuni Elementary School, led by their principal, Ma'am Crisol, for their unwavering support and cooperation. We also want to extend our gratitude to the parents for their patience and understanding as we worked tirelessly to assess all the students. Your partnership is invaluable in helping us ensure the well-being of the community's children.

The Rural Health Unit, through Sanitary Inspector Ms. Cathy Balane and Environmental and Occupational Health Program Coordinator Ms. Giselle Mae Moquiala, conducted a monitoring visit to Bacolod Public Market to assess and promote proper sanitation practices. Clean and well-maintained public markets play a vital role in PREVENTING the SPREAD of COMMUNICABLE DISEASES, ensuring SAFE FOOD HANDLING, and PROTECTING the HEALTH of CONSUMERS and VENDORS alike. By upholding cleanliness and hygiene standards, we contribute to a healthier environment, reduce the risk of food- and water-borne illnesses, and safeguard the overall well-being of the community.

August 8, 2028- the RHU Bacolod, under the leadership of Dr. Teresa M. Reponte, had the privilege of bringing the DOH's PuroKalusugan program to the heart of Barangay Esperanza, Bacolod, Lanao del Norte!

What is PuroKalusugan and why is it so important?
PuroKalusugan, which means "health in every community," is a vital program that brings essential healthcare services right to our doorsteps. It's all about making sure that no one is left behind, and that every member of our community has access to quality health and wellness programs. This proactive approach helps us prevent illnesses and build a stronger, healthier community together.

Today's activities focused on the youngest members of our community! Our dedicated team conducted a comprehensive health assessment, along with crucial services for all children in the barangay's day care centers, including:
* Health Assessments: To check on their overall well-being and growth.
* Eye Check-ups: To ensure their vision is clear for a bright future.
* Dental Screening and Fluoride Varnishing: A proactive step to protect their precious smiles from cavities and promote excellent oral hygiene from a young age.

Declared under Proclamation No. 1761, this month, we highlight the importance of lung health and encourage everyone to be alert for early signs of lung disease — because healthy lungs are essential for a healthy life!
