The BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations are inherited in an 𝘼𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙩 form, which means that one copy of the mutated gene in each cell is enough to raise a person's risk for getting cancer. Though breast cancer is more prevalent in women than in men, the defective gene can be passed down from either parent.

Early detection, according to experts, can save lives, emphasizing the necessity of yearly screenings and check-ups. This occasion is not only an opportunity to pay tribute to the women we've lost but also to raise awareness about the importance of regular check-ups.

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰?

Dianne, suffered from breast cancer way back in 2019, and despite leading a healthy lifestyle, her friends and family were all shocked to hear the news. She shares her personal experiences dealing with cancer, therapies, and other chemotherapy side effects. As stated by Dianne, she had lymphedema and an ongoing/chronic disease that made the treated portion of her body vulnerable to skin concerns, discomfort, and swelling.

"While I was undergoing chemotherapy, I experienced fatigue, hair loss, nausea, vomiting, appetite loss, and easy bruising and bleeding, etc". She said, and she also added, "I was informed by my doctor that these treatments can inflict long-term damage on my heart, lungs, liver, kidney, and reproductive system".

It is important for the patient to have a strong support system to go through breast cancer.
