🦷 Reason for Wisdom Tooth Removal and its importance.
Wisdom teeth (third molars) usually appears between the ages of 17 and 25. While some people have no issues, many experience problems that require removal. Here’s why:
1. Impacted Wisdom Teeth
They often don’t have enough space to grow properly and may get stuck (impacted) in the jaw or gums. This can cause:
• Pain and swelling
• TMJ problems
• Infections
2. Crowding and Shifting of Teeth
Wisdom teeth can push neighboring teeth out of place, undoing years of orthodontic work and affecting your bite.
3. Tooth Decay and Gum Disease
Because they’re hard to clean, wisdom teeth easily collect food and bacteria. This increases the risk of:
• Cavities
• Bad breath
• Gum disease (which can spread to nearby teeth)
4. Cyst or Tumor Formation
In rare cases, impacted wisdom teeth may develop cysts or tumors, which can damage the jawbone and nearby teeth.
✅ Early removal = easier recovery
We often recommend wisdom tooth extraction before problems start, especially if X-rays show they’ll likely cause issues later.
