The Regional Nutrition Shepherding Team (RNST) of the National Capital Region visited Caloocan City and Quezon City on October 13, 2025, to assess the progress of their local nutrition program implementation and provide technical guidance following the results of the 2025 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro).
In Caloocan City, the visit brought together members of the City Nutrition Committee (CNC) and the RNST, led by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa Federizo of the National Nutrition Council โ NCR (NNC-NCR) and RNST Chair Ms. Marlene Navarro of the Grace Family Helper Project, together with Ms. Soccoro Alma Gammad (ANAO-NCR), Ms. Fabiola Allysa Bringas (NFP), Nutrition Officers II Samantha Claire More and Jesse Lauren Barotac (NNC-NCR), and Ms. Maricor Dayandante (DILG-NCR).
The team reviewed Caloocan Cityโs 2025 MELLPI Pro results, tracked actions taken on previous recommendations, and discussed updates on their City Nutrition Action Plan (CNAP). The members of the City Nutrition Committee (CNC) and the RNST discussed ways to sustain progress and further improve their local nutrition program management.
In Quezon City, the RNST met with OIC City Health Officer Dr. Ramona Asuncion DG. Abarquez and the City Nutrition Secretariat, led by CNAO Dr. Olive Esquivas and CNPC Jai Sideco, to review the progress of their CNAP implementation and explore ways to further strengthen it. As a Green Banner Seal of Compliance Awardee, Quezon City aims to sustain its exemplary performance in nutrition program management while seeking continuous improvement in service delivery.
The Shepherding Project supports local government units (LGUs) in enhancing the management and delivery of nutrition programs toward improved nutrition outcomes. Since 2020, the NCR Regional Nutrition Committee has identified Manila, Pasay, Caloocan, and Quezon City as priority areas under this initiative.
