As Super Typhoon Uwan moves closer to Northern Luzon, the Department of Health โ Cordillera Center for Health Development (DOH-CAR), through the National AIDS, STI, and HIV Prevention and Control Program (NASPCP) and Project NAMNAMA, reminds all Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV) to protect their health and ensure continuity of treatment during this emergency.
Your antiretroviral (ARV) treatment must not be interrupted because staying on treatment keeps you healthy, maintains viral suppression, and prevents transmission.
What to Do Now
1. Secure Your ARVs
Place your medicines in a sealed, waterproof container or heavy-duty plastic bag. Keep them inside your Go-Bag where theyโre safe, dry, and easy to reach.
2. Check Your Supply
Make sure you have enough ARVs for at least one week. If your supply is running low, contact your treatment hub immediately or reach out to your DOH-CAR focal person for assistance.
3. Prepare Your Go-Bag
Include essentials such as water, non-perishable food, a flashlight, batteries, radio, first-aid items, and your treatment hubโs contact information.
4. Stay Connected and Informed
Charge your phone and power banks now. Follow official updates.
5. Follow Safety Advisories
Know your evacuation route and shelter location. If told to evacuate, leave immediately. Your safety and health are the priority.
In times like this, preparedness saves lives. The DOH-CHD CAR, through NASPCP and Project NAMNAMA, reaffirms its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted HIV services across the Cordillera, even in times of crisis. Let us look out for one another. Check on your peers, stay informed, and keep your treatment on track.
