Ginagawa ang procedure na ito para sa mga sumusunod:
1. Malaman kung ang bukol sa baga ay cancerous o hindi.
2. Alamin kung saan nanggagaling ang dugo sa plema.
3. Alisin ang mga nanigas o bumarang plema sa baga.
