MANDALAY UPDATE

Its Myanmar’s water festival yet our partners in Mandalay continue to bless and distribute help to earthquake survivors.

MARCH for Christ TYPHOON Relief Disaster Response

We are in dire need of help after 6 back to back typhoons hit northern Philippines in less than one month.

Many lost whatever meager homes, crops and livestock they owned. Roofless and homeless, the poor have been pushed into harder and rougher times. Chapels of many church of Christ congregations were not spared and have to be rebuilt.

Your one time gift will be much appreciated. Guaranteed to go directly to the survivors. We need all the help we can get.

We are doing what we can sending food and giving our brethren some comfort as we do this. Our message to them- you are not alone.

Building materials are needed. Food is scarce. Floods have destroyed whatever belongings they own. Many have to start all over. Yet there are a few more typhoons expected.

We are praying the coming typhoons will veer off somewhere, but the eventuality is there.

Can you help our people? We have already used up our seed money for disaster relief. There were 10 typhoons that had earlier hit us in different parts of the Philippines from January to September. It’s a good thing there were no damaging earthquakes, just minor ones.

“Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.” 1 John 3:4

Sin is not something the ministry invented to hold people in its thrall. The first sentence of Ephesians 2:1 includes the terms "trespasses" and "sins," both of which illustrate simply and clearly why sin is such a universal problem. "Trespasses," the Greek word paraptoma, means "to go off a path," "fall," or "slip aside." When applied to moral and ethical issues, it means "to deviate from the right way," "to wander from a standard."

Commentator William Barclay cogently catches the essence of sin: "Sin is the failure to be what we ought to be and could be." The Bible contains numerous specific standards, and Christianity is a way of life that touches upon every aspect of life. The central notion contained within these two Greek terms is failure—failure to live up to the standards of this way of life as established by God and revealed by His Son, Jesus Christ.
