Baguio City - DOH CAR in partnership with Engineers Hill District Health Center, brought healthcare services closer to the community through the PuroKalusugan (PK) and Project Namnama programs held at the PFVR Gymnasium.
With the theme “Sa puso ng bawat purok: pag-asa, ginhawa at kalusugan: Nagsanib-pwersa,” the activity highlighted various PK initiatives, particularly those focusing on HIV and tuberculosis (TB) prevention and care.
Military Cut-off Barangay Captain Becky Ambion-Cruz emphasized the importance of community participation in building stronger and healthier barangays. “This is not only a health mission but a mission for our constituents. We encourage everyone to avail of the programs, from road safety, WASH, immunization, nutrition, maternal health, cancer screening, and free HIV testing,” she said.
Residents also expressed appreciation for the initiative. Jennylyn Abad, employee, said: “Maganda ang mga services lalo na yung WASH at legal advice. Meron pang libreng health kits at gamot. Hopefully mas maraming ganitong activity kasi malaking tulong talaga.”
Partner organizations also participated, including the Philippine Dermatological Society, PBSP, RCG Mobile Chest X-Ray, and human rights advocates, further expanding the services made available to residents.
Said activity demonstrates DOH-CAR’s continuing effort to bring comprehensive health services closer to every purok, ensuring that healthcare is not only accessible but truly felt at the community level.
