Day 2 of the Basic Facial Plastic Surgery Course.
Together with fellow consultants, we had the opportunity to lecture on fundamental suturing techniques and local flaps—core skills that form the backbone of effective reconstructive and aesthetic procedures.
I’m hopeful that our young head and neck surgeons from across North Luzon will be able to carry these techniques forward and confidently apply them throughout their residency training and future practice.

Day one of our Basic Facial Plastic Surgery course conducted in Baguio General Hospital. I lectured on Cleft lip and palate repair, Rhinoplasty and Otoplasty. Teaching our younger ENT colleagues is fulfilling; helping them understand about the basic techniques in facial plastic surgeries is fundamental so that they would also be able to treat patients well. :)

Cleft rhinoplasty is a specialized, complex surgical procedure aimed at reconstructing the nose in patients with a history of cleft lip and palate. It can be done at the same time of lip repair (primary rhinoplasty) or can be done before schoolage (intermediate rhinoplasty) or at puberty or 14-16 yrs of age (secondary rhinoplasty). This procedure aims to improve both appearance (symmetry, tip definition) and function (nasal breathing) by correcting anatomical deformities, making patients become more confident with their appearance and prevent nasal infections.
