This is why I don't prescribe mouth wash to all patients. I teach my patients techniques to clean their teeth and have nice breath without relying on mouthwash, but if they insist I recommend alcohol free and natural antibacteria (it is the antibacterial effect that may cause the issues that this cardiologist is talking about though). I only recommend mouthwash to those whom I have diagnosed with HIGH TO EXTREMELY HIGH CARIES RISK and those with PERIODONTAL DISEASE. Our goal is find out their risk factors and lower their risk of developing these diseases so that they won't have to rely on mouthwash for a lifetime.
