A case of a 62 year old male with a chronic history of bulging left inguinal area. Patient eventually sought consult due to pain in his inguinal area for 3 to 5 days duration and wasnt able to reduce the incarcerated hernia manually.

Surgery was done via a left inguinal incision exposing the hernial sac and eventually reducing the incarcerated intestines back to the abdomen.

Here is the. Explaination in laymen ILOCANO terms.

Understanding Laparoscopic vs. Open Cholecystectomy: Benefits You Should Know!

Advantages of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

1. Minimally Invasive: Laparoscopic surgery involves smaller incisions, which means less trauma to the body compared to the larger incision needed in open surgery

2. Faster Recovery: Most patients return to their normal activities much quicker; many are back on their feet within days rather than weeks!

3. Reduced Pain: Smaller incisions typically lead to less postoperative pain and discomfort, potentially reducing the need for pain medication.

4. Lower Risk of Complications: The minimally invasive nature reduces the risk of infection and other complications associated with larger surgical wounds.

5. Less Scarring: Tiny incisions result in smaller scars, which many patients find aesthetically preferable.

6. Shorter Hospital Stay: Many laparoscopic procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to go home the same day, whereas open surgery usually requires a longer hospital stay.

7. Faster Return to Diet: Patients can often return to a normal diet sooner after laparoscopic surgery than after open surgery.

🔑 Making the Choice: While laparoscopic cholecystectomy is often the preferred method, the best approach depends on various factors, including your specific health conditions. Always consult with your surgeon to discuss the most suitable option for you.
