Statement of Atty. Mauricio G. domogan on the Filing of His Candidacy:
I have filed my candidacy as Representative for the Lone District of Baguio City to provide the people of Baguio with a choice for a better representation. This representation will be anchored in transparency, integrity, accessibility, effective legislation, and a proven track record. It is my objective to make sure that the people of Baguio are afforded the opportunity to have a representative who is God-fearing, accessible, accountable and dedicated to serving their interests.
In my years as a public servant, I have always believed in democracy and meritocracy. If a person possesses the values and competencies of a good and effective leader, he or she has the right to present himself or herself for the public to decide. When the public has more choices to select from for their future leaders, then that situation is far better than when the choices are limited.
I have always championed the belief that public service is a public trust. Transparency, therefore, is a cornerstone of my representation. It is salient in ensuring that there is mutual trust between the people and their representative. This mutual trust will pave the way for effective representation and crafting of legislation.
My track record in the legislative and executive branches of the government, respectively, attests to unwavering public service. The needs of Baguio and its people took precedence over personal interests. As a God-fearing individual, all my undertakings and decisions were based on what is right and fair. As a legislator, it is without doubt that my representation will reflect the genuine issues of the people of Baguio: relevant, fair, progressive and directed toward long-term development.
Regional development is another important focus of my representation. Baguio is a key city in the Cordillera and must be at the forefront of fostering development in the region. It is my firm belief that stronger connections with the neighboring provinces will pave the way for sustainable economic activities, infrastructure development, and improvement of the quality of life for all Cordillerans.
Lastly, the filing of my candidacy was without fanfare. It was so as I would like to emphasize the character of what genuine public service should be: simple and efficient. Once again, I am offering my services to you, my beloved people of Baguio. It is my fervent wish that we will have the opportunity once more to work together to further enrich our city.
