Baguio City โ Collaboration between medical professionals proved vital during a key event on Friday, September 26. Radiologic Technologists, Nurses, and Health Leaders joined the second session of "Strengthening Diagnostic Partnerships: Radiologic Technologists and Health Centers" at the City Health Services Office to support efforts to eliminate TB in the community.
The session resulted in participants agreeing to establish regular information-sharing sessions across health centers and to pilot a shared digital reporting tool for TB diagnostics. This outcome aims to enhance communication and consistency in the early detection of TB. Participants identified actionable steps and set a follow-up review meeting to assess progress.
Dr. Donnabel Panes, City Tuberculosis Program Manager, emphasized that Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which primarily affects the lungs. Although TB is preventable and curable with proper treatment, it can be fatal if left untreated. TB spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.
