So hold on tight.
Speak to yourself with kindness when things feel overwhelming.
Give yourself grace for not knowing everything yet — you’re learning.

If Nightingale Could Walk Here

If Nightingale could walk here,
she would pause at the humming machines,
the blinking monitors,
the endless rows of empty eyes staring at screens.

She would see the nurses—
standing long after their feet ache,
holding hands, not just charts,
whispering hope where no protocol tells them to.

She would notice the quiet courage,
the grit beneath scrub fabric,
the prayers carried in calloused palms,
the way they bend low to lift others
even when the world refuses to bend for them.

She would shake her head at the silence of the hallways,
at the spaces where humanity used to breathe.
And yet, she would smile—
because some things endure.
The light of care, fierce and stubborn,
still glimmers in these nurses,
the guardians of life who refuse to let it go.

If Nightingale could walk here,
she would bow.
Not to machines, not to protocols,
but to the hearts still beating behind the scrubs,
the hands still reaching,
the souls still holding the line.

We Wore Our Masks Before the World Did

We wore our masks before the world did
not cloth, not paper, not N95,
but smiles stitched over sleepless nights,
laughter layered over the scent of antiseptic and loss.

We hid our tremors behind steady hands,
our heartbreak behind vital signs,
our fear behind clipboards and care plans.

When the sirens rose, we stayed.
When the headlines faded, we stayed.
And when the world discovered masks,
we had already mastered the art
not of hiding,
but of carrying the weight and still showing up.

Because under every mask
there is a face lined with love and courage
you will never see on the news
but you will feel it
in the pulse we protect,
the life we fight for,
the quiet way we keep you whole.
