in 2014, the WHO South-East Asia Region was certified free of all types of wild polioviruses β a historic milestone in the journey towards a healthier world.
This landmark achievement was made possible by unwavering commitment of governments πͺπΎ, tireless efforts of health workers π©πΎββοΈπ¨πΎββοΈ, support of partners and the communities themselves.
12 years on, the Region continues to sustain this hard-won gain, maintaining and expanding surveillance for poliovirus, and high vaccination coverage, to ensure every child is protected against polio.
