✳️ Who are Physical Therapists (PT)?
➡️ ➡️Physical Therapists are licensed evidence based professionals who are experts in human movements.
✳️Are PTs same as Massage Therapists?
➡️ ➡️No, Massage Therapy is typically a vocational degree or a certificate training that doesn’t require license (in the Philippines) to practice. Any manual movements to skin, muscles or underlying structures can be a form of massage. A PT may use massage technique BUT 🚫 NOT an exclusive management. A PT assesses and evaluates appropriateness of specific plan of care.
✳️What are requirements to be a Physical Therapists?
➡️➡️In the Philippines, it’s a bachelors degree taking 5️⃣ years to finish. New curriculum is 4️⃣ years Degree. In the US, PT is a doctorate degree, 3 years after 4 years in college. One has to pass a rigorous 600-item board examination and to practice.
✳️Are PTs specialists?
Yes, a PT can be specializing in sports/orthopedics, acute care, pain clinics, neurological, pediatrics, geriatrics, cardiopulomonary or even wound care and women’s health specialists.
