Intensive Course in Obstetric Emergencies, conducted by the Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM) and the Asia & Oceania Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (AOFOG), in collaboration with the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society
A POGS Central Luzon experinece held last
May 16–17, 2026 @ Unilab, Inc., Pasig, Metro Manila
Two days. Eight stations. Two assessments. And honestly, a lot of skills none of us had when we walked in on Sat morning. Thank you.
To Dr. Thawan, who opened the program and set the tone for everything that followed — thank you for the clarity and direction. To Dr. Boon Nee, Dr. Muna, Dr. Alvin, Dr. Voon, and Dr. Nantha — thank you for the patience, the energy, and for teaching the same concepts over and over to different groups with the same heart every single time. We saw that. We felt it.
To Dr. Padilina, POGS BOT, POGS facilitators (with my PSMFM Mentors: Dr. Ibay, Dr. Dy, Dr. Santos, Dr. Cayabyab and Dr. Coloma 🫶), thank you, thank you for making this happen. ICOE Manila was not an accident. Our POGS leaders opened the door for the Philippines.
We were not just taught about these obstetric procedures, but they also showed us how to teach. And I think that is what many of us will carry home the most.
To my fellow POGS CLC participants — this is where I want to dream out loud with you. For 2 days, we learned side by side. We laughed at the same scenarios, struggled through the same stations, and shared the same quiet realization: this is what our mothers back home need.We may come from different provinces, hospitals, and practices, but we are leaving these rooms carrying the same fire.
And that fire is something I pray that we will not lose.I dream these team of OBGYNs become the group that brings ICOE to Central Luzon — not just as participants who once attended a course in Manila, but as mentors, trainers, and teachers.
