🤱Exclusive breastfeeding can save over half a million children’s lives every year worldwide.

Breastmilk provides complete nutrition in the first six months of life. It protects against infection, undernutrition, and reduces the risk of obesity later in life. Because it is produced and delivered naturally without the need for packaging, fuel, or clean water, it stays safe in emergencies and leaves no environmental waste.

In Taguig City, more than 250 mothers from Metro Manila joined the Department of Health (Philippines)’s Yakap Hakab event to promote exclusive breastfeeding and proper complementary feeding. At six months, babies need age-appropriate solid food while continuing to breastfeed.

UNICEF reaffirms its commitment to work with the Philippine government and partners to build sustainable support systems that make breastfeeding possible. Through stronger policies, better counselling, and support for frontline workers, more mothers can breastfeed and more babies can survive and thrive. 🩵

In celebration of the 51st Nutrition Month, the Local Government Unit of Balatan headed by our energetic Local Chief Executive, Ar. Domingo T. Abliter, together with the Sangguniang Bayan Members, proudly held a Community Nutrition Ride for our vibrant youth aged 10–19 years old! 🌟

A powerful reminder that good nutrition fuels strong bodies and active minds.

In support of the TB Control Program (Intensified Case Finding)

The Department of Health, in coordination with the Culion Foundation, and funded under the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), will be conducting a One-Day Free Mobile Chest X-Ray Activity in partnership with LGU Balatan and the Balatan Rural Health Unit.

This activity aims to detect and prevent Tuberculosis (TB) through early diagnosis. Individuals with a persistent cough, weight loss, fever, or other TB symptoms are encouraged to participate.

Balatan LGU Gears Up for 51st Nutrition Month Celebration on July 29, 2025

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Balatan, Camarines Sur proudly announces its upcoming 51st Nutrition Month Celebration scheduled on July 29, 2025. This year’s vital theme, “Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”, aims to raise awareness and promote healthy lifestyles among the community.

The day will be filled with fun, engaging, and educational activities designed to emphasize the importance of good nutrition and overall wellness. Highlights of the celebration include:

Community Nutrition Ride – A biking event to promote physical activity among adolescents (10-19yrs old) 5 pax per barangay. The pre-registration is until Wendnesday, July 23, 2025. Please coordinate with your assigned Nurse/Midwife.

Nutri-Fair / Booth Exhibit – Showcasing local food products in 17 barangays of this Municipality

Search for Little Miss Nutri-Queen – A pageant that celebrates young advocates of nutrition, showcasing their charm, knowledge, and advocacy in promoting healthy habits. Participants were selected from the Day Care Centers of 17 barangays.

Zumba Showdown – An energetic competition featuring dance and fitness groups showing off their moves in celebration of health and unity.

This annual celebration underscores the LGU’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more informed community. Everyone is invited to participate and join in the festivities to make nutrition a priority in every household.
