As a Board-Certified Dermatologist here are five skin truths I will not gate keep for you. Please read the caption. 🫶🏻
1️⃣ “You can’t change your pore size”
True—pore size is largely genetically determined. But you can minimize how visible they look with:
• Retinoids (increase cell turnover)
• Oil control (salicylic acid, niacinamide)
• Proper cleansing
• Energy-based devices (for collagen support)
2️⃣ “Most anti-aging starts with sunscreen” ☀️
This is the most evidence-based step in preventing:
• Fine lines
• Pigmentation
• Loss of elasticity
Daily broad-spectrum SPF is non-negotiable—even on cloudy days.
3️⃣ Azelaic acid is very underrated
It’s also helpful for:
• Acne
• Rosacea
• Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
✔️ Bonus: safe during pregnancy
4️⃣ Consistency beats expensive products
A simple routine done daily will always outperform luxury products used inconsistently.
Skincare is about habit, not hype.
5️⃣ “More products ≠ better skin”Layering too many actives can lead to:
• Irritation
• Barrier damage
•Breakouts
Sometimes, less is more.
💡 Good skin isn’t about trends—it’s about strategy + consistency
