Verses of the day this Sunday
Matthew 28:5-7 KJV
[5] And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
[6] He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
[7] And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
“The Message of the Empty Tomb”
I. Reassurance – “Fear not ye”
“And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye…” – Matthew 28:5a (KJV)
❤️The first words spoken by the angel were words of comfort.
❤️The resurrection of Jesus removes fear—fear of death, fear of judgment, fear of the unknown.
“God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
Because Jesus lives, we don’t need to be afraid. The angel reassures the women, and God continues to reassure us through His Word.
II. Reminder – “He is risen, as He said”
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.” – Matthew 28:6a (KJV)
❤️The angel reminded them that Jesus had already told them this would happen.
❤️The resurrection confirms the truthfulness of Jesus’ words and the faithfulness of God’s promises.
“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” – John 2:19 (KJV)
“For he must rise again from the dead.” – John 20:9 (KJV)
Jesus keeps His Word. The resurrection is the ultimate reminder that every promise of God can be trusted.
III. Revelation – “Come, see the place where the Lord lay”
“Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” – Matthew 28:6b (KJV)
❤️The angel invited them to see the empty tomb for themselves.
❤️Christianity is based not on blind faith, but on a revealed, historical reality—an empty grave.
“Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen…” – Luke 24:5–6 (KJV
The stone wasn’t rolled away so Jesus could get out—it was so we could look in. The empty tomb is God’s revelation that death has been defeated.
IV. Responsibility – “Go quickly, and tell…”
“And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead…” – Matthew 28:7 (KJV)
❤️The resurrection is not a secret to be kept, but a message to be shared.
❤️Believers have a responsibility to proclaim the good news of the risen Savior.
“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15 (KJV)
The angel gave them a mission. So too, we are called to spread the word that Jesus is alive, and hope is real.
Conclusion:
The message of the resurrection brings:
❤️ Reassurance to our hearts,
❤️ Reminder of God’s promises,
❤️ Revelation of victory over death, and
❤️ Responsibility to share it.
Because He lives, we have hope, purpose, and a message worth proclaiming.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” – 1 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
