Statement from the Chief of Hospital:

Last night, while I was here in the city attending to important family matters, I was informed of a fire alarm at brgy. Ticad. Knowing the density of the area and possible scenarios, I immediately ascertained if there were possible casualties brought to the hospital and issued a Code White alert, informing all off-duty staff to be on stand by for possible deployment. When the Emergency Dept informed me of more than 15 casualties brought to the ER, I asked all off duty staff who could respond to proceed to the hospital, thankfully, they responded to the call, even our off duty Physicians dropped whatever they were doing at home and proceeded to the hospital, that is why some of the people in the ER were in civilian clothes helping the casualties of the event. I am proud and thankful to our staff for reponding to such an event that has the potential for mass casualties.
