Although there are currently no official guidelines or reminders from the DOH or WHO specifically for Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), it is essential to stay vigilant and follow general respiratory health measures to protect yourself and others. ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿ’จ

What is HMPV?
HMPV is a respiratory virus that causes symptoms ranging from mild colds to severe lung infections, especially in children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals. Discovered in 2001, it has likely been affecting humans for decades.

Here are some general tips to stay safe across all our ISUFST campuses:

Dear ISUFST Community,

In light of the recent activity from Mt. Kanlaon, ISUFST Health Services is issuing this advisory to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, and staff. While Iloilo Province is not in the immediate danger zone, ashfall and related effects could still impact our community.

What You Need to Know:

1. Stay Updated: Monitor official announcements from PHIVOLCS, LGUs, and the Barotac Nuevo MDRRMO.

2. Stay Indoors: Avoid outdoor activities if ashfall is observed in your area.

3. Protect Water Sources: Cover water containers to avoid contamination.

4. Prepare Emergency Kits: Include masks, goggles, drinking water, and non-perishable food.
